Wilds disconnecting my PC from internet access
As of yesterday (March 5th) Monster Hunter Wilds has been causing my PC to lose all access to internet. Once the game attempts to connect to the game servers my pc will disconnect from my WiFi network and remain unable to connect until I close the game. One the game is closed internet begins working perfectly again.

I have tried updating drivers (CPU, GPU, and Network), I’ve verified game files, I’ve scanned for any issues with the WiFi card itself, and I’ve also tried simply restarting my pc. None of it solved the issues. The game was working flawlessly before this and I never had any issues with performance or any crashes. After an hour of troubleshooting I was finally able to get into the game without it borking my internet only for it to crash again 10 minutes later while joining a quest.

The internet access issue is solely on my PC too, I am able to access the WiFi perfectly fine on other devices while not being able to on my pc. I’m at a loss for what to do at this point and hope someone can offer insight to what may be causing this issue.

You should try first whether it is because the app is running, or the app is getting disconnects because of your security soft- and hardware.

Launch Steam in offline mode and play some MHW while checking the wifi conntection via ping command ~ like e.g.

Gotcha, I will definitely try this when I’m home from work later. From the investigating I was doing last night it definitely seemed like the issue was occurring right as wilds would attempt to connect to the game servers. I really hope this isn’t an issue with my hardware, and would be really weird if that was the case since I’ve had no performance issues with the game before now.

I wish you good luck! :MHRISE_OK:

I know there were other games which caused a similar symptom - as in: internet disconnects when the game runs - but I just cannot recall which it was. Otherwise it could be helpful here...
i have same problem, my wifi disconnect when i try connect to mhw server. Do u resolve this problem?
Unfortunately the issue is not solved. I tried launching the game while in offline mode, still completely borking my internet connection. There was a brief period where everything worked fine but then the problems began again.

While the game is open I can not access my wifi network. My WiFi card is showing the network exists but i can't get internet connection from it. Then I close the game and the internet goes back to normal. I don't even have slow internet either, always fast and never have issues with it. Just monster hunter wilds doing this.
This is just an absolutely random guess. Does going to this website kill your wifi too? If it says no IPv6 address detected then you can ignore this.

Could be your antivirus or a firewall.
Make sure to whitelist Steam and the game in both.

Also... fully unplug your router & modem for ~30 seconds and plug them back in, if you haven't already tried that. From my years of experience doing IT, I have seen routers & modems do the craziest stuff sometimes... Typically when they are going out / dying, but also just that really weird bug that can't really be explained on occasion.
I blame the ISPs... but could also just be that every router manufacturer out there is also just pure ****. I'm still not sure who is truly to blame for it (maybe both of them?) and I've been in IT professionally for over 10 years... lol

Yeah unfortunately I've tried both of these things too. Wilds was whitelisted and then I even tried running the game with my firewall completely disabled too.

Also tried resetting my router but that changed nothing. The network itself is up and stable and able to be accessed by other devices, just my pc loses access. My PC also still sees the network when I go to available networks, it just refuses to connect for spme reason. PC also says wifi card is working properly and no problems are detected

Im running out of options and sanity at this point lol. Gonna try uninstalling the game and reinstalling to see if for some weird reason that fixes it. If that doesn't work I may try using a VPN. After that I might just have to throw in the towel.
I recommend an uninstall, but you don't have to worry about the reinstall.

Playing this game will only lead to sadness and regret.

Thanks for the input Fapmaster. Sorry you don't like the game. I am looking for a real solution tho

That is technically not possible.

For clarification: how did you do offline mode?

Wait a sec.... What antivirus do you use? It isn't 'Avast' by any chance, is it?

I have seen this EXACT SAME problem a few years ago, but with Dead by Daylight. Other than the game, the symptoms were EXACTLY like you describe.
Turned out that 'Avast Antivirus' was silently blocking the internet, without any notification, messages, warning, etc. and only when Dead by Daylight was run. Literally the only solution was to completely uninstall Avast because even whitelisting didn't work.
One of the weirdest (and annoying) things I ever saw! I still have no explanation for it to this day...

Nope, just using standard windows anti virus. I really can't wrap my head around why this is happening out of nowhere when the first few days of the game I had 0 issues
