I solo to get a challenge, and have started tinkering with weapons I’m not good with.
I did the story mission for Gore, with hunting horn, a weapon I have less than 20 hunts with in the entire franchise, only carted once.
I’m hopeful (hopium) the TUs will be great.
SOS is not how you measure whether the game is easy ór not
I also don't use support hunters and even have them off when firing an SOS. I've pretty much played the whole game so far with just me and my palico because people hardly ever even join me.
Dunno how often i died in my gametime (99,9% solo), but i can count it on one hand and it has been mostly exaggerating like fighting HR Rathalos without the gear or actual the "permission" to do so, so i got oneshotted by the breath-attack.
Overall yes... i´m more experienced especially through worlds, but that´s not all.
- The wound-system is strong, if not too strong on a couple of weapons like e.g. longsword.
- Mounting is way to common and easy now with the Sekri´s, it´s even a hidden nerf for the Glaive in comparison.
- The healthpool and damage output doesn´t fit each other. We either do too much damage, the monster have not enough health AND we clearly don´t get enough damage.
Most of the time where you might run low health the boss will suddenly change on the Palico.
Also most of the time you´ll have enough time to get up, keep on moving and easily healing yourself etc....
Monsters are kinda slow, the pathing and tracing is slow and not on point. I remember only one attack from those little firebirds (don´t remember the monstername imo), which clearly follows the player even while running away. It keeps banging its beak into the ground and running after you.
Also most of the monsters simply lack hardhitting attacks like the friggin egg from Kulu-Yaku. Or how about more status effects? I´m 4 chapters in and got poisened ONCE, bleeded ONCE, stunned maybe 2-3 times, knockbacked rarely because the monster mostly lies on the ground thanks to wound-smashing or is just too slow to catch up.
Funny thing is... i got frozen like 3-5 times in one fight, but did i got hurt after? NO! The monster just ignored me, waited until i got free, dunno...
So far yeah... with less experience in the series, stuff might look different. But there are too many "QoL" changes and missing special attacks which have a huge impact on the hunt and its difficulty.
My tempered gore/Arkveld hunts have people carting left and right.
It’s so bad I only do those coop if the rewards are too good. Like gems.
Guess asia server is too good literally nobody gets carted when im farming artian/deco
Most of my kill times through the story in LR were 3-5mins on Lance a weapon i Barely touched in previous games since i am an old HH main. once i hit HR standard rathalos gearset barely any decorations if any at all and level 1 charm my TTK went from 5-10mins some going to 13mins some ending at 4mins due to story mission reasons.
This game is probably THE best entry level Monster hunter we were ever given. While yes new players or inexperienced players are going to have it rough cause they are new Experienced players are going to feel the difference a bit more heavily.
I've had 1 fight take 20minutes out of the 80 hours i've played now and its because i went up against Arkveld at max with with R6 gear and weapons.
I will say though there is some discrepancy when it comes to comparing MSQ to Investigations and Optionals. Some of the missions are set with an amount of health or multiplier while finding a monster out in the wild and joining MP increases the HP.
However the other issue we have that makes the game feel easier is the amount of wound damage we do as well as the elemental changes in Wilds itself. If we didn't have Wounds sure the game would be a lil harder. we would have mounting easier but we wouldn't be getting massive damage gains just from the wound system itself. and you can tell that by doing a fight with Wounding and one without wounding often to none at all. Granted now we got builds to kill Monsters solo in about 30s-5mins on the hardest rank the game overall is just more accessible damage wise making the experience feel very lack luster to those who are used to this type of game.
So no, There is No lie. on it being easy.
As for gearing it is easier as well If your going through the game Yes grinding optionals are still going to take 3-10 times because less rewards. Doing open map hunts and creating investigations with rare materials attached is whole other story. i have a rathian and rathalos investigation with Ruby's attached to them. RUBY'S.
No longer shall i face rathlos 50 times to be finally awarded another plate.
coop is a joke, monster barely moves
