Gemma makes no sense as a part of the main cast...
I have multiple problems with the story, with it dragging out pointless scenes, palicoes not speaking their own language, and other minor details.

But personally I am really bothered by the fact that Gemma goes everywhere with the hunter, Alma makes sense since she's your handler, the boy whose name I forgot, I guess since he would be able to identify parts of the terrain due to him being native to the region. But Gemma? Why does the smith travel with the hunter? She seems to be one of the main smiths in the expedition, her not being in base camp could massively delay the weapon supply chain for the rest of the expedition. Another thing that is of concern, is that she seems to have no combat ability, I could assume that handlers are trained on how to properly get away from monsters and not get in the way of their hunter when they're fighting, but a smith?

I'm sorry but if every hunter had a smith constantly following them not only would there need to be WAY more smiths in the guild (possibly even more smiths than hunters), not to mention the risk of smiths dying due to a small mistake, or even some unexpected situation. The hunter can't protect everyone if something goes wrong, they're just human after all...

I'm just stating that I see the person's POV who wanted to off Erik during the Lala Varina scene.

Probably because i dont actively interact with these kinds of people. It always feels like im talking to some kid who hates Courage the cowardly dog because courage is always scared.
Bought the 1st season.
Couldn't stand it.
Characters who never seem to evolve are the most annoying ones.

It's not like I do interact with them either though, just pointing out that they have a point on Erik.
Like the old Pokémon saying: "There's a time and place for that!"

Might be worth listening to the story every now and then. Gemma follows the Avis unit, while Werner follows the Astrum unit. It's save to assume that each unit has their own smithy to make it easier to explore the area without constantly wasting time to get back to the desert.

And who knows, maybe they eventually build a permanent smith with upcomming patches.

that means we have a mature older Sophia somewhere and I need her to step on me and call me Doodle.

I do not understand the obsession with 4u's guild (village) sweetheart.

3u's was the superior choice
That's because Sophia isn't a sweetheart. She's a Guildmarm <3
1. they are "HUNTER/EXPLORER CARAVAN"
2. they are a single team/division called AVIS
3. so, if the hunter go, then all the team go

Pretty much this i would say.
If you actually paid attention, or go back to redo the story line if you rushed like i am doing, you'd understand that each unit contains their own personnel.

Im pretty sure it's pretty similar to a medic on the battle field, each unit has their own so that they dont need to rely on one single medic

The palicos only speech English or whatever language when they are wanting humans to understand. They speak their language to other palicos. I don't see why people think this is so deep.

I mean they have always "spoken" English and we saw that in subtitles lol However they have never really bin voice acted in English. It's always bin car meows. However while I loved the cat meows, the cats saying certain things like reminders a monster is weak and captureable is really great QoL because I'm not likely to read subtitles but I can hear the voice haha plus they still speak in puns which is awesome highest form of humor :auyay::mhwgood:
Gemma is the smith of Avis unit, which consists of the Hunter, Alma, Gemma, your palico, your seikret, and Nata, unfortunately. Through most of the story, Avis unit is going on expeditions into uncharted territory, which necessitates her coming along to maintain your equipment on the road. (You can technically fast travel whenever, but there are several points in the story where this doesn't make sense--the cave with Rove, for example). Gemma also helps build defenses and setup new base camps.

If you look around some of the base camps, you will see several unnamed smiths that presumably work with other units. Gemma is not the smith for the whole guild.

I wish Alma would just stay at camp and I could bring Gemma all the time instead :(
This post immediately lost any sort of credibility with the cat thing being an option in the settings, and "the boy whose name I forgot" being one of the most centralized parts of the entire narrative's driving force. Smh with people actively "forgetting" parts of the story just 'cause they don't care, but then acting like they care enough to complain lol

Also Gemma legit spent a ton of her time in a caravan with a personal hunter as a child. She's not exactly gonna be a stranger to being up close and personal with hunters and monsters and whatnot. She can go wherever the heck she pleases :P

Besides, the Avis Unit works as a unit. I don't think there's anything specifically saying that only hunters can exist out on the field. It's not like they're actively joining you in the midst of a hunt anyways. They usually take off for shelter if you do end up having to fight something.

having a dumb ass kid go from I hate that monster to I love that monster is also making no sense but we have that too, we also have humans swinging about a ton of metal like it was nothing, so realism isn't what this game is going for. If you want that go somewhere else.
