Palico needs an overhaul
-Pulls too much aggro, making it easy to miss combos
-the free heals come up a bit too late and the vigorwasp is too slow in recovery to be remotely useful
-i havent unlocked every "gadget" yet but they seem like worse versions of Worlds and Rises.

Generally, we need to have settings for our cat to behave a certain way. I would prefer if it did not pull the monster away from me, thats a damage loss for combo heavy weapons. this could be good for ranged weapons though, so it should be a choice how often or at all if they try to taunt the monster.

Being able to command the palico to perform an action would be good, unless im missing something you cant, it was helpful in world.

You're like the ONLY person that feels like Palico is too weak

Rath from above is the greatest thing I've seen for palicos and doesnt need to be touched at all

I guess you didn't read the post, I was implying it was too strong, in the sense it pulls too much aggro AWAY from the player, with no choice in the matter. It can actually hurt your dps as melee. this was opt in with world with the shield gadget, rather than at anytime as it is now.

And if they made it heal less that would be fine too.

If you find them pulling aggro off of you, you could just.. leave the cat at camp? You're never forced to take it on a hunt.

Of course I could, but i just wish i could set cat to be more utility.

I agree that the aggro pulling can be bit strong under normal circumstances. The monster and i will be fist fighting for a solid 30 seconds and then without the taunt shield it just says screw it and attacks my cat instead.

Though I've experienced the slow reaction times and I'm wondering if there is too much going on some times to where palico's just bug out with the priorities. cause i've got a vigorwasp heal incoming after 5 seconds of me fully healing myself with a mega potion before.

I would like the option to turn off his taunt that trumps even the aggro set bonus.

un-ironically if the palico is pulling aggro outside of its actual taunt power then thats more of an indicator that you are barely doing anything. Its very very very hard to lose aggro to the cat because you have to be doing less than the cat to lose aggro so that speaks to a passive playstyle on your part and would be why you're "missing combos" and not the cat.

You can move towards the cat as he goes to heal you to speed it up, sometimes i literally mount my seikret just to speed up the heal and go for a quick jump attack off of it.

The end game gadgets are really good... now if you said the palico system was a step down from rise and sunbreak i'd agree... but this cat is a HUGE step up from worlds palicos and more in line with other palicos in the series

i've never had this happen... the few times i wanted the cat to take aggro i can't even start to drop aggro and have to throw poo in the monsters face or leave. The only time he pulls anything is during his actual taunt and even then the monster only looks at him for maybe 3 seconds then go right back to hyper focusing me. I don't have any skills that change this mechanic either.
I wish we had more control of when the Palicos actually used their abilities like we could in World. Actually being able to choose when it healed it me or when it pulled out the shield was very useful. Now it's just random luck whether he will throw a plunderang, set up a vigorswap spot, or taunt for aggro. You have less control over it. Also, the Palico having access to EVERY Palico gadget at once (even a free revive) is absurdly strong.

I miss being able to customize their "class" like Rise. Having the Palico just being one class and slamming all the abilities into one is just so weird. At that point it would be better off removing the abilities so it isn't having a wonky priority system like trying to use a vigor wasp while I'm rocking melody of life or how using the bomb balloon when I need it to be healing me while playing hammer.

does customise assist npc action in setting applies to palico?

surprised if game allows player to customize assist npc action but not your long term companion.

i want to bring my palico but they are laughably strong and district the boss quite a bit. I want to customise my palico so that he only heals or set traps and look cute and stay with me but right now I just don't bring it with me in fight.

I feel like everyone saying the current, singular palico is super powerful just didn't play the other games. But yeah, I'd rather they had more direct customization options rather than being so hands-off.
Get all the gadgets and you'll change your mind lol it has 3 in total vigor wasps all with its own cool downs it's quite a strong little kitty for support. Also has classic trap and flash cage along with others I won't spoil :p

I would love more custom options as well, but at current palico is quite strong though.
