No one joins sos
Why is hardly anyone ever joining my sos flares? I join people all the time. HR 22.

Because there is probably little of value to joining some content.

i tend to join SOS flares under a few scenarios in HR (in rough order of enticement)

apex predators (especially jin dahaad because that fight is rude with the oneshot)
other high difficulty fights (double tempered fights, tempered monsters, etc)
wishlisted monsters
investigations/field survey with good rewards

if you're just SOSing every mission then there will be missions where no-one joins, but if you run increased reward investigations you'll probably get more people (especially if it's like a double fight, those seem to fill up almost instantly)

Truth be told, i ain't even bother joining anyone, the game is just too easy now, there is no thrill of it even when i'm alone. People usually ask someone to join their hunts because it's too difficult or too long, and THAT'S whats makes joining others fun.

I Don't know, i'm just not used to it after playing unhealthy amount of MHFU, MHW and MHR.
double fight is so fk up for sos, i see a lot of ppl withdraw from quest(probably dced)
For story, play single player. The NPCs can join SOS flares.
Most people that would use the SoS system are probably grinding Tempered Monsters.

Huh
I can say at the very least people have no interest in grinding monsters that are considered "low rank," as in all versions of monsters you fight BEFORE the credits of the game rolls.

When you get to high rank hunts, you'll get far more people biting SOS signals. Even more if a monster is Tempered.

There are also other factors to consider. Someone may want to grind a certain monster. A Chatacabra has no value beyond HR 15 for example, you likely got all the materials you need by then. Then there's time spent in a mission, people hesitate when a certain amount of time passed because they could be kicked out during the loading screen due to the hunt ending.

The biggest factor of all, however, is rewards. This is what makes Tempered monsters popular, since they're required to make a unique type of weapon. Someone MIGHT bite for a Chatacabra if it results in a level 2 decal equip. Those are always nice to have.

Could just be an imbalance of people shooting the flares vs people joining the quests. I prefer to join other people's SOS instead of shooting them myself if I want to play MP idk maybe that's just me though and it seems like I'm ALWAYS the first person to join someone else's SOS but then it always fills up after me.

dude same for the last part
Problem for story missions is that anyone else who's also doing story missions wants to progress as well, which means cutscene -> fight. So everyone is firing SOS flares for these missions but nobody is really going back in time/progress to join them. Capcom has basically made a single player game until you get to high rank
