apex predators (especially jin dahaad because that fight is rude with the oneshot)
other high difficulty fights (double tempered fights, tempered monsters, etc)
wishlisted monsters
investigations/field survey with good rewards
if you're just SOSing every mission then there will be missions where no-one joins, but if you run increased reward investigations you'll probably get more people (especially if it's like a double fight, those seem to fill up almost instantly)
I Don't know, i'm just not used to it after playing unhealthy amount of MHFU, MHW and MHR.
When you get to high rank hunts, you'll get far more people biting SOS signals. Even more if a monster is Tempered.
There are also other factors to consider. Someone may want to grind a certain monster. A Chatacabra has no value beyond HR 15 for example, you likely got all the materials you need by then. Then there's time spent in a mission, people hesitate when a certain amount of time passed because they could be kicked out during the loading screen due to the hunt ending.
The biggest factor of all, however, is rewards. This is what makes Tempered monsters popular, since they're required to make a unique type of weapon. Someone MIGHT bite for a Chatacabra if it results in a level 2 decal equip. Those are always nice to have.
