i dunno, i skipped it all
Because it's not Rise
it's pretty standard as far as stories in monster hunter games go, they're just not a strong focus of the franchise.
Because Nata exists in it. Monster Hunter Wilds: Babysit
monsterhunter was never a big story game, its just about hunting monsters (which is in the name). You have to play a real rpg if you want a story
its not that bad in my experience.
Having reached the end I am shocked.

This is a butchered retelling of the content cut from the original game, the ancients were steadily losing against Fatalis instead of "guardians" were creating a guardian to fight it, they were creating this guardian out of the harvested corpses of other creatures into a frankenstein beast that barely controlled multiple elements (like Alatreon would later) but the city fell before they could wake it.

Said "Ancient Dragon Weapon" was originally intended to be the boss before Fatty but the whole aspect including the ancient city got cut.

Also why is there an old Female Wyverian that hasn't potato'd?
I dont remember when the last time i skipped any dialog or cutscene in the game. This ♥♥♥♥ is unbearably cringe, started to insta skip after that dumb kid appeared.
What’s so bad about it? It’s not good by any means but it doesn’t impact the game as a whole. Who plays Monster Hunter for the story anyway?
Haven't finish the LR story yet but it's the best story since 4U imo.

When was the story in any monster even good? It always boils down to "X monster is causing issue, go hunt these other unrelated monsters that just going about their business in order to stop that other monster from destroying the ecosystem or something".

At least now there's a valid reason to deal with a given monster. IMO, this story isn't any better or worse, people are just mad because they're treating it as another MMO and just want to play with others without having to deal with any custscene at all. To this effect Capcom would have more to gain by just going back to online/offline quest chain not related to one another and don't force anyone to do story to unlock anything in MP.
Because anime and because video game

4U did a good job with the story. It's not award winning level, but considering it's the only game in the franchise that people reference as having a "good story", it's pretty good. Wilds story reminds me a lot of 4U's story. I'm not Fleet Hunter #360 like in World and I'm not "Village Errand Boy #5" like in Rise.
I haven't kept track of any of the story TBH. The story is mid... at BEST. But the gameplay... oh boy... the gameplay is PEAK. I can't get enough of the gameplay loop even though I have only carted a total of 3 times due to stupid noob/rookie mistakes. The combat and mechanics are just so much damn fun. I'm not playing for the story, and to be honest, I don't think the story is the main focus of these games. That's the vibe I am getting anyways. The story is basically just an in-depth tutorial for the peak-ass gameplay.
