The Radial menu makes it barely better !!!
I don't see why these fanboys all think this is great rememberable combat ???
I really don't see it ...
ALL battles feel the same because of lack of variety in combo's...
I come from playing FF7 Rebirth ,,,,, then you really realise how sad SLOW BORING REPPETITIVE combat system in monster hunter wilds is !!!
Really boring game !!!
I will see it through for now,, but dont expect to be playing this for long !!
Yes well it certainly is EASY,,, ,,,,,
Sadly to the point that it is repetitive...
Also last thing The tsory is a complete BORE as well,,, super blatant empty characters, half the things are not even voice acted,,,,
Honestly COmparing this to FF7 Rebirth combat system,,,,,,
It's like NIGHT and DAY difference, in how interesting a game can get !!!
MHW sadly being the boring NIGHT
Where FF7 Rebirth shines in its combat system
MHW fails to deliver any interesting mechanic !!!
PRess YYYYYYYY itt finisher YB
PRESS BBBB into finisher YB
DODGE BLOCK
PREss more YYYY
Jump on monster back with RT B BACkstep YY
DEstroy WOunds with FOCUS MODE !!!
Thats about all this game has to offer,,,, really blatantly EMPTY on GAmeplay and story !
Im really disappointed for a 70 eur game here !!!
And because of all fanboys they will never change their formula to be something more interesting.....
It's just like another FIFA Release,,, the same game,,,, with a new NAME !!
The only positive is that the game runs smooth but thats about it !
The same hammer pounds and lance pokes as always.
It's "clunky" as in some weapons are really slow and you have to commit to your actions, but that's where the "high skill ceiling" comes from, its the risk vs reward. But if that's not your style you can just pick another weapon. The movesets have been refined for years now and in Wilds they feel better than ever.
Imagine souls combat but instead of learning the boss' attack pattern to get better, you need to learn YOURS.
FIFA 25 also feels better then ever !!!
But it's the same copy pasted boredom simulator !!!
It also doesnt feel like a skill ceiling when i compare this to some other action games...
A Slow weapon just means a different timing and opportunity window but basically the fight is the exact same,, ye sthere a re a LOT of weapons 14 indeed i think,,, but they all consist out of 2 or 3 combo's with soem of them having a sewcond set like switch blade thingy ,,,,, but i truly miss the in depth combat of some other games...
BUt overall there is not much memorable fights !! There might be a few that actually need some kind of tactics but on overall it certainly is too repetitive for me !
MHW feels like a BONK BONK SIMULATOR !!!
Not like an smooth action game
Take ELden RIng
DArk SOuls
DEvil may cry series
or so many other action games,,,, and this feeels like a SLOGGGG!
FF7 rebirth
so many others have way more in depth fighting then this BONK BONK SIm !
Souls combat is also "raw", as in you straight up are just trying to hit the boss while not getting hit. But for all of the ~30 different types of weapons you'll be doing the same exact thing: roll -> hit -> repeat. The different weapon types don't really matter aside from looks and getting one that fits your build. You pick your weapon based on your build.
In MH it's the opposite, you build around the weapon you're using. Your choice of weapon will change how you play the game, how you move and position yourself around the boss. It manages to have much more depth, without breaking the flow of the fight (like in FF7). Of course it comes with a steeper learning curve, but learning a new MH weapon and getting to master it is one of coolest feelings i've had in a game. + when you get bored of using one hooray theres still another 13 to play around with.
Also FF7 rebirth's combat does not feel organic at all, with the auto lock ons, snap to enemy attacks and completely stopping time to select the ability you want to use.
Not saying these other games have bad combat systems, just pointing out how MH is different and why it's great in it's own way.
well person that said combat is clunky deffintly dosent know anything about combat,
this game has only performance problems
In world every monster in HR was unique to fight, wilds is too casual.
Overall no tracking, low ttk(no need for consumables), autopathing in base game(no map exploring feels weird), and 99% monsters attacks you can just evade by footwork even without sprinring/dashing.
Looks like its just game for a casuals, not MH core players
