NO shot it'l never happen maybe in years if ever the Steam Deck is simply to weak.
Looks like it has a silver on ProtonDB

It runs, but be happy with 20-25 FPS dips to 17-18.

There's a Steam Deck config.ini on Nexus + the "Disable Wind Simulation" fixes that get me 30 in most areas with dips to 25 once I reset my graphics preset to Lowest

There's games out there more state of the art than MH that run perfectly fine on SD its all in the optimization, plus they chose a doodie engine to use for the game

you'd have to increase the shared memory to at least 6GB I'd guess to play at <480p w/ a custom config.ini, Volumetric Fog is also very performance heavy in Proton/Wine it seems.

I've been playing using Debian13, Kernel 6.12 & 6.13, ProtonGE-9-25 & Mesa 24.3.4 with a AMD GPU without issue, so the software side can be made to work the hard part would just be cutting down Wilds enough to fit in 16GB of shared memory with a 4c/8t and a RDNA2 gpu that is about equal to the performance of a 570X in the best case scenario, but probably going to be worse because of the heavy CPU load and the system using an combined CPU/GPU chip effecting thermal limits for the GPU.

with 5090 the performance is trash no way itwill work with steam deck

It works on the deck. Even if the performance is not the best. I'm sure after a few updates it'll be good

Did the last update from today make any difference? I'm thinking of getting it, but unsure due to all the critics

Someone made a steam deck specific config on NexusMods, might be worth a bash to gain some more frames.

As someone with a steam deck, no it is not.

However, I found a mod on my main PC that made the game run buttery smooth. Next time I get my hands on the deck, I'll try this mod out and see how well it fares then.
Any news on a SD update?

Doubtful, which sucks because I have one. Many have tried and get maybe 20fps out of it. My 4070 ti wants to constantly drop my settings to low, which look like SD appropriate settings. If my recommended settings are at low with a 4070ti, I doubt it will ever run on SD.

Yep. I'm playing it on my Steam Deck right now. Averaging 27+-3 FPS.

Edit: I'm actually getting closer to 27 FPS on average
