Yes, it certainly looks like that.
This time the game has incredible awesome NPCs, and above all I think Alma is the best handler we can have. A handler who is also a companion? Perfect!
My favorite is Gemma. Always there for us with armor/weapon upgrades. Such a reliable smith.
No just the ones that are not FUN / COOL / INTERESTING, which in MHW ist pretty much every single one.
My first impression of her is of an older Minayle
She sure has a very cool onee-san vibe
Don't get me wrong I wish Nata could get snatched off his seikret by a rathalos.
It is hard to relate why people would dislike him for his childish line of thoughts.
Kids in games/shows are always ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying, and 90% of media would be better off without them even included as characters.
MHW is no different. Nata is an absolute ♥♥♥♥♥ from start to finish. Alexander levels of "punt him out the airlock".
Also, let's be honest, nobody plays these games for the story. Big drawn out story sections are totally unwanted by most. Nobody really wants this, especially in a franchise with porno tier character writing. Stop making my porn about the plot >>:((
I think the best vibes these games have had was Tri. Where you're little more than cavemen bonking dinosaurs in a prehistoric landscape amidst a backdrop of a long dead civilization nobody knows anything about. Kind of ruins it when you get a whole bunch of exposition vomited at you about said civilization.
Oh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The ONLY Npc that doesn't belong is Nata. Seriously, if they removed him from the entire game, it would have progressed in the same way, or they could have found a way to make things the same.
I only now started to enjoy the game in High Rank missions, because Nata was no longer present, and not following me around like a lost puppy.
Whenever the story goes from just "god awful" to something remotely Interesting, the character Nata, goes off on a tangent that makes no sense, and just starts to cry for seemingly no reason, turning what little of a story the game has to offer, into something incredibly Cringe-Worthy. If Nata just shut-up once in a while instead of trying to make the story, or story-related plots point directly to him for no reason, there wouldn't be much problem.
All the other npc's make sense, and belong. Hunters, Researchers, Smithies, Traders, etc, etc. Nata is a child, who even at the end of the game when the story forces it to turn towards him, STILL does absolutely nothing, and the only person that does end up doing something is the Hunter (the player).
You're stuck dragging a little kid around, which contributes NOTHING to the story. Erik the other teams "handler" was supposed to be the person who gets into trouble like the Handler from Monster Hunter World, however, it only happens like two times in the entire game, so he's actually not incredibly annoying.
Monster Hunter games have never been known for their stories and for the most part has always been corny. But my god, maybe next time they should maybe do a little research on what people actually find enjoyable about stories. I for one can tell you, it's not dragging a useless kid around who cries, given any opportuned time.
