Can you force village traders to change offerings? Need additional ingredients for food.

Looking for additional ingredients and none of the traders are carrying them. Is it on a timer? Every few hours or day their stock changes or something?

OK, answering my own question in case anybody has this problem in the future and this comes up in a search.
You can force the traders to refresh their inventories by resting.
You can rest from your tent, a pop-up camp, or a your portable BBQ pit as long as you are not on a story mission or a hunt. It will cost 300 research points.

good to know i need some things from them and they keep asking for stuff i dont have lol

Resting will also reset monsters on the map. Make sure to save any good ones into investigation.
