We got to play it before release and benchmark it before release. If we spent 2+ hours on the beta, it stands to reason we enjoyed outselves, no? I can get behind your idea for games that don't allow either one of those though.
I've done my research, ran the benchmark, and played the beta, i see no difference in putting money aside and buying at launch vs pre-ordering.
it was bound to happen games where going to cost 70 because everything gets more expensive.
Your home, Internet, Food. You name it. But also your paychecks.
smart pepole buy games under 50 at release
Not there is anything wrong with that fyi, as long as its from a legit retailer listed on isthereanydeal.com and not a grey market.
Really hope we can pre-load the high res texture pack too, as that is a extra 75 gigs.

Steam Refunds
You can request a refund for nearly any purchase on Steam—for any reason. Maybe your PC doesn't meet the hardware requirements; maybe you bought a game by mistake; maybe you played the title for an hour and just didn't like it.
It doesn't matter. Valve will, upon request via help.steampowered.com, issue a refund for any reason, if the request is made within the required return period, and, in the case of games, if the title has been played for less than two hours.
There are more details below, but even if you fall outside of the refund rules we’ve described, you can ask for a refund anyway and we’ll take a look. Consumers in some jurisdictions may have additional rights to a refund in circumstances where the game is faulty.
You will be issued a full refund of your purchase within a week of approval. You will receive the refund in Steam Wallet funds or through the same payment method you used to make the purchase. If, for any reason, Steam is unable to issue a refund via your initial payment method, your Steam Wallet will be credited the full amount. (Some payment methods available through Steam in your country may not support refunding a purchase back to the original payment method. Click here for a full list.)
Everyone most likely has a franchise they'll be buying from regardless of reviews or content shown. Monster Hunter is one of those for me. I'd afford the same luxury if there was a Team Fortress 3, a Digimon World game, or another 3D mario game.
