why so much hate?
I love the Monster Hunter series and I'm very pleased with the new game so far, and of course, maybe my knowledge about hardware prices is limited. So forgive me if I'm talking nonsense. Since the beta came out, there have been many complaints (and rightly so, the beta is terrible.) and many PCs, even high-end ones, have had problems with the game. So far so good, Capcom decided to work on improvements and released the "Benchmark Tool" which apparently seems to have solved, at least reduced the performance problems. And I believe they "solved" it because my PC (4060 ti 8gb R5 5600x) is weak and cheap compared to most of the PCs of people I see here on Steam and the game ran very well, beyond my expectations (65 FPS AVG 1440 high, no FG) for a game from 2025. So I wonder how people with a 3070 ti, 3080, 4070 or above are having so many problems? Are they trying to boycott the game or did they just play the betas? Or did they not read that it said that the improvements were not applied for the beta? Even my friend who uses a 1660 Super had good results. I just wanted to know if my friend and I are special or if people have just hated the new game. I'll probably regret writing this as I don't usually interact with people on steam.
I can't wait to play it and I don't care about playing on "ultra" yet, I can't believe I was able to at least play on high quality.
And I really hope the game is even better when it's released so everyone can play it. See you on the 28th :LIS_pixel_heart:

Yeah steam forums are all hate, whining and complaining. It was like this in STALKER 2 discussions after release, KCD2 is overrun with it and possibly the worst I've ever seen. People in recent years have seemingly become dumber and angrier.

A big problem I've noticed in this game is people are trying to run the game at higher resolutions than 1080 with subpar specs and then not understanding the issue.

Best to just ignore these forums, I don't even know why I keep coming here.

When a game performs badly when you use TOP END hardware, yeah, theres gonna be hate, and its justified. Stalker 2 was not ready for release, and it still isnt. People dont care why, they want their money to be worth something, and thats perfectly fine.

As for the Steam forum and its population...its never been good, and yes its getting worse. My block list is in the thousands, and it keeps growing. People need to learn that block is a thing.

The game is designed around using upscaling and framegen. But sure, you can keep eating every ♥♥♥♥ that is served to you.

Nah I've been playing Monster Hunter Since Freedom Unite on the PSP. I can't comment on the gameplay since the performance was so bad I uninstalled the game before completing the first fight against the tongue monster. The worst Monster Hunter game to date so far for me though. Can't even try to enjoy the gameplay because the performance is so bad. Sure from a technical perspective the graphics are better, but I'd take Rise's or World's graphics over this any day if it meant the game ran at a reasonable FPS without DLSS or Framegen. I don't like upscaling and I don't like framegen. I bought a 1080p 60Hz monitor years ago so I could play games at guess what... 1080p and 60fps. I know crazy ain't it.

You are done here.

Nah I'm gonna make sure my thoughts on the game are heard and hopefully push or help influence the devs towards a better future. This game may likely be doomed for me, but hopefully with enough voices we can make sure they design and develop the next mainline game to be able to run at a native 60fps for whatever is the middle end gaming hardware at the time of its release.
Reason there's a lot of hate is because the benchmark tool is very misleading and the game is built around using upscaling and frame generation to make up for its shortcomings. Plus the game engine of choice is one that buckles in large open world, since it was not meant for large open world games. This is extremely lazy on the devs and Capcom. Put these two together and you get this mess everyone is seeing now.

Other games took this same approach and ended up in the same boat. Immortals of Aveum, Remnant II, Dragon's Dogma 2, possibly STALKER 2 even.

The corpo white knights are out in full force today I see.
The problem is when you look at the system requirements for each setting it says upscaling and frame gen to hit 60 fps. The game is so unoptimized you can't even run the game in native resolution for their recommended system specs. It is honestly absurd. I would understand if the game was graphically superior to everyhting that ever released before it or if you were attempting to run the game at 4k ultra with path tracing which is incredibly demanding and I don't think any consumer gpu can handle that at native 4k yet. But no just to reach 60 fps with no ray tracing in a game that while having decent graphics is far from hyper realistic. This is such a huge step backwards for pc gaming. I never thought I would see the day where they would expect you to upscale to play at 1080p. 1080p has been the standard for over 15 years and now they expect you to render the game in 720p or lower and upscale it to 1080p that's ludicrous.

Is it playable sure. Does it look good ehh I don't hate the way it looks but I find it disappointing compared to world it isn't much of a graphical upgrade. I will be playing the game on release I haven't missed a single us monster hunter release starting with the first one but this game is still a terrible omen for the future of pc gaming as a whole.

Nah I've been playing Monster Hunter Since Freedom Unite on the PSP.

you say since FU, but every game up to World was 30FPS... and then World was 30FPS on Consoles... Pretty sure Rise was also 30FPS on Switch

Wilds will also be 30FPS on Consoles.

they're very obviously targeting "very pretty game that runs at 30 FPS" as they always have been and then people are going "what do you mean the game targets 30 fps?????" when this has always been the case...

this isn't a "bad omen for pc gaming", monster hunter has literally always been like this
i'm sure it will improve, as it already *has* between the beta and benchmark

Its uh been confirmed that Wilds will run or target 60fps on consoles...it really is just bad optimization

Because it is bad.

Looks maybe 5% better than MHWI at max settings, 100% worse at the settings most people will play it at, and the gameplay is also much worse than World, all while having garbage performance on the most common hardware out there.

A rig that could play MHWI at Ultra, High Res Textures, at over 120 FPS is stuck using upscaling and Frame gen in MHWds.
