rig suggestions to make this game playable? (resolved, thank you!)

Hey there, I just ran the benchmark the other day and ended up with some... not so great results, to say the least. I'm seeking advice on how to improve my build based on what's been working for everyone else.

Currently running this build:
Motherboard: MSI X570-A PRO (MS-7C37)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1070 <-- yeah, I know. be nice to him he's really busting his ass here
Memory: 32 GB
Running the game on a 1TB SSD (not my HDD)

Obviously, the 1070 is the weak link here. It carried me just fine for years and ran MHW:I at max settings ( + the high res texture pack), but after running the benchmark on every setting, it can barely handle Medium and actually performs even worse on the Lowest. I'm barely reaching 40 FPS at best. I also noticed that turning Frame Generation on nukes the performance it's BAD dude lol

The game recommends an RTX 2060 Super for good performance, but after seeing the results others with vastly superior GPUs have been getting, I've got a feeling it's not gonna make much of a difference.

so, I'm thinking of getting a 3060 instead. It'd be compatible with my rig and it's within my price range. Question is, though, is that even going to make a difference? My main concern is the game not looking crunchy, the game not having poor framerate, and the game not having screen-tearing. As long as those things can be (mostly) alleviated, I'm happy.

I've seen screenshots of other people with 3060s (similar CPUs and Memory as well) getting not-so-great scores, and I've seen some getting good scores...

so, TL;DR, I'm torn. Do I go for a 3060 for this upgrade, or should I try to get something even stronger/pricier than that? If you guys are running 3060s, what kind of scores have you been getting?
UPDATE:
Thank you to everyone in this thread for your detailed responses, it's been super helpful for me. I'm going to get a CPU + GPU upgrade and hope (cope) for the best. I feel a lot more confident in my choices now - I'm going to be grabbing the Ryzen 5800X3D + AMD RX 6800. Good luck to the rest of you guys on your builds. :D

No it's the CPU with this game you could upgrade the GPU to a 4090 and very little would change even a 5800x3d struggles for me.

Watch this and you'l understand what I'm talking about.
My advise is to wait for reviews from Hardware Unboxed and/or performance reviewers you trust. This is likely going to be the easiest and safest way to select what GPU hardware performs well in this game.

If you can resist the FOMO a tiny bit longer I would definitely wait for RDNA 4 GPU reviews. Why? I have a water cooled 7900XTX and it has crossed my mind more than once to sell it for an RX 9070 XT. I know I'm going to have to sell at a loss. If RDNA4 doesn't do it for you I am betting some nice RDNA 3 models are going to hit the used market soon. Ignore if you're an Nvidia only gamer.

As for the CPU it is going to be a tougher time. Reviewers are less likely to test as many CPUs as they do GPUs for a game. You are going to have to rely on old Zen 5 reviews or CPU comparison on TechPowerUP.

---------------------------

Before you do anything you need to define a reasonable budget and make sure you have accounted for gotchas like needing a new PSU or motherboard or even a case if it is small. You never know.

---------------------------

If you're seriously thinking about buying new HW once you know what you want buy it. No one is certain how prices will pan out over the next year. I'll leave it at that.

If you want a low budget solution, get a 5800x3d so you have best cpu for your socket and get a used 3080 or 3090 there are some good deals on ebay i have seen some 3090's for 400 bucks or go amd, amd has best money per raw power value.

i have a 4070 and r5600x 32gb ddr4 my game runs very well above 130fps without frame gen and without making the game ugly bc its already ugly if i adjust the settings instead of going full ultra like 99% of all people on this hub. Its still a rough state of this game, we ill get DLSS4 on launch.

thank you so much for the video, it's made it a lot more clear on what the problem is with my rig. gonna be sharing it with my friend as well. I'm looking into stronger CPUs that'll work with my motherboard now

IF your looking to upgrade check out these two link if you don't trust the links just google GPU or CPU tier list from tomshardware .com
Super helpful list to get a general basic idea on what to look for in your budget range.

thank you for the detailed reply! unfortunately, my budget is a bit on the lower side, so as much as I'd love to have something like a 7900 or 9070 it's simply not feasible for me at the moment (broke ass gamer moment)

so, with the mindset of "I'm gonna go for whatever upgrade I can get and Cope," I'm thinking of going from a Ryzen 7 3700X -> Ryzen 7 5800X, and from an NVIDIA GTX 1070 -> NVIDIA GTX 3060 Ti. I double-checked the compatibility with my motherboard and those upgrades should work fine. I don't think it'll give me perfect results by any means, but I think I could at the very least get average-to-decent performance, depending on settings.

you seem quite knowledgeable on parts - I'm pretty surface level in comparison - so if I may ask, do the upgrades I mentioned seem worth investing in to you? would it be a waste of money?

yeah, I was eyeing the Ryzen 7 5800X specifically (not the 5800X3D), but it seems that both would be compatible with my motherboard. Would it be worth forking over the extra $300~ for the 5800X3D over the 5800X? I'd want there to be a noticeable difference in performance and I don't know too much about how they compare to each other.

The 3080's and 90's I've been seeing are quite pricey, so I was gonna go for a 3060 Ti instead. I'm hoping it'll be enough

You can just save money by using cloud streaming to play it, geforce now or shadow pc, like 10-20 buck a month to play it off a top of the line pc and save money till you get the parts you can afford, I had to do this for a bit while i was building my 9800x3d on stalkers 2

The 3080's and 90's I've been seeing are quite pricey, so I was gonna go for a 3060 Ti instead. I'm hoping it'll be enough
the difference between 7 5800x and 7 5800x3d is the the 3d cache, in short its better for gaming but if its alot more expensive i would go for the 7 5800x. It really depends how the prices are where you are. the 3060ti is not bad, its a good budged card for 1080p gaming, but would still look out for cards like 3070 or 3080 or a used 4060, if you can a good deal on them do it. the 7 5800x is better than the 5 5600x, so you would be save with the CPU.
If you can get your hands on a reasonably priced 5700X3D or 5800X3D, you'll be set for some time. GPU is always what ever the best your budget allows. I traded some stuff to get my 7900 XTX but I know thats not everyones scenario

ah, I see. thanks for the advice! I'll keep all this in mind. Hoping to get a decent rig set up for this game before launch 🙏🙏🙏

For gaming they should look into the 5700x3d it's a 5-10% from the 5800x3d but a good bit cheaper and that x3d is most definitely worth it.

Look at the 5700x3d it's only 5-10% weaker than a 5800x3d but it should be a good bit cheaper if you want the cpu for gaming the x3d cpus are most defiantly worth it.
For me in the US the 5700x3d is $230-$320
