I don't like the direction this series has taken.
Even ignoring the horrible graphics and performance of the beta, I'm not a fan of 95% of the changes they've made since World. I've played since MH3U and watched this series continue to discard what made it unique, with Wilds to me being almost unrecognizable.

Why am I forced into a giant open world? Where is the monster tracking? Why am I forced to use the glorified Chocobos from Final Fantasy? Why did they add Bioware style conversation with NPCs? Why do they continue to make gathering easier and more pointless with things like being able to gather from a distance? Remember picks and consumable nets?

Going back to MH4U on my 3DS it's amazing the difference. The world was so much more immersive (and comically, 4U looks about as good as Wilds does) and it felt like a HUNT. Like I was SURVIVING in the world hunting down a monster. Wilds feels like a hub game. There is no sense of danger or immersion anymore.

It's almost identical to the experience I had playing Classic World of Warcraft after playing 15+ years and going back and remembering all the stuff that Blizzard removed for the sake of "quality of life" not understanding that the little details that slow you down make the game immersive and fun.

Even if this game ran perfect and had great graphics it barely plays like Monster Hunter anymore.

3) The unique artstyle for characters/NPCs that was perfected in MH Tri was thrown away in favour of more realistic skin/imperfections in World (compare MH Tri Opening to any cutscene in World).

Biggest thing that baffles me about Wilds it's that they double down on useless NPC polygons just to tank your fps. I will not be surprised, if modders find out that all NPCs in hub are still rendered and simulated fully while you are 50 km away on map fighting monster.

Yeah no, tool breaking was the worst. And having to do 2 dedicated gathering runs, 1 to gather stuff to craft tools and another few runs after that to gather the items with each tool was a nightmare. It's probably 1 of the big reasons I never fully beat previous games cuz 300 hours in the grind I was just sick of the cycle lol

Innit just? I feel it's the worst mechanic of ranged weapons! I always felt basic attack ammos should be unlimited at least! Special ammo makes sense, altough I'd prefer it to be unlimited in number but limited to what you normally carry for special ammos, 9 sticky ammo makes sense for a hunt 😂

Glad the basic ammos at least are unlimited in wilds! Altough rise had the best lbg playstle I have seen it was so fun to vault over monsters and stick explosives to them xD

This was never a thing. You ALWAYS gathered during the monster hunt, JUST LIKE in World and Wilds.

But no, and yes. Yes you could gather in a hunt, but tools took up inventory and broke. So taking a bug net, a pick axes what not lol

It also made more sense to do it outside of hunts cuz skills like speed gathering and gathering god so you had more at each node, go for honey runs while picking other herbs and stuff you might need etc... it was often easier to not tie that into your hunting timer. But also smart to grab them as you hunted anyway.

As you can see a hunting loadout would have less space and you won't have the dedicated gathering skills so it won't be reliable.

Without the hunting gear I have much more inventory to get up the materials I need, some of which may be rare so I have to have a larger inventory so I don't need to return and extend my trip cuz I now need to do 2 or more runs 😂 this is how I and my friends did it.

It was just better and practically required so you didn't have to slow down hunts.

Graphics look good. Get a better PC.

Love the direction. Much more fun. Respects player's time. The BS, unnecessary time eating things, have been cut out or reduced greatly. Makes the game fun to play

Except you do have to gather resources. Theres no farm and you have to go out info the field to get everything like its MH1 or Dos. Only difference is the slinger and Seikret help.

How do you know there's no farm? You dont know that yet :p

The people who reviewed wernt even allowed on seikrit customisation.

Well yeah I don't want gathering entirely gone lol

But I don't wanna go back to the old systems, the quicker gather with grapple, endless tool instead of breaking and I imagine like thee past 2 titles there will be a slight automation system to help with common items.

I was OVERJOYED with the removal of much of the tedium from World to Rise. Roaming the map on a loop just to gather supplies. ♥♥♥♥ that, I have a life=) Sorry. Those days a long gone. Any game that simply adds tedium or timed events to slow gameplay down, is a crutch. One day you all grow up and realize that's NOT SKILL or difficulty. Its just tedium. Its why MMOs got boring. All time sinks designed to squeeze another month's subscription. No longer.

agreed. i had only play monster hunter older generation once on my friends' game but I rmb it much different from now. Exploration and preparation feels pointless in wilds.

It was a fun distraction from grind to expand your canteen. MH didn't start as an arcade fighting game, its more of a stuff for immersion, that is getting erased more and more nowadays.
