I don't like the direction this series has taken.
Even ignoring the horrible graphics and performance of the beta, I'm not a fan of 95% of the changes they've made since World. I've played since MH3U and watched this series continue to discard what made it unique, with Wilds to me being almost unrecognizable.

Why am I forced into a giant open world? Where is the monster tracking? Why am I forced to use the glorified Chocobos from Final Fantasy? Why did they add Bioware style conversation with NPCs? Why do they continue to make gathering easier and more pointless with things like being able to gather from a distance? Remember picks and consumable nets?

Going back to MH4U on my 3DS it's amazing the difference. The world was so much more immersive (and comically, 4U looks about as good as Wilds does) and it felt like a HUNT. Like I was SURVIVING in the world hunting down a monster. Wilds feels like a hub game. There is no sense of danger or immersion anymore.

It's almost identical to the experience I had playing Classic World of Warcraft after playing 15+ years and going back and remembering all the stuff that Blizzard removed for the sake of "quality of life" not understanding that the little details that slow you down make the game immersive and fun.

Even if this game ran perfect and had great graphics it barely plays like Monster Hunter anymore.

It is kind of weird to see someone prefer the monster hunter-lite skew of games over the larger main-console games though.

4U has far more immersion and RPG aspect than Wilds or Rise. World was about as "dumbed down" as the series needed to be and even then it was pushing it.

Have you played world? I'm sorry your childhood addiction isn't being remade 1:1 but rise, world and rise are not "dumbed down" because QoL exists. The hardest monsters have been getting harder and harder, the ceiling in skill on most weapons has only gone up. Quick-looting and braud open maps are not dumbed down.

Perhaps gaming just isn't for you dude.

Yep.... Some things are quality of life changes ( I actually don't mind fast gathering. ) BUT

I have 0 hype for Wilds. Don't like this "open world" which is a series of corridors and open areas.... Story was never good in any Monster Hunter game so putting effort here will probably diminish other aspects of the game.

There is no new weapons added and the changes they made for example to a Lance moveset makes me really mad. Hate overcomitment on the last attack and I cannot do guard counter with the same button combination as in World. Which means I have to completely re-learn the Lance... that doesn't feel fluid anymore.

So without good graphics, new weapons, changed moveset for some weapons... what does Wilds offer? I will wait for reviews for this one.
Never understood why some people are against quality of life updates.

Maybe they like their game being niche and don't want it to be accessible to more people? I don't know.

Or is it nostalgia, because the old games are still there. If you're feeling nostalgic for then you can still go play them...

Personally, I really like the direction the series has taken, I love the QoL changes, I think they can still push those further.

I really like the weapon moveset changes (people seem to fear change).

I have friends that quit World because they didn't like the tracking aspect, they just want to bumble into their enemies Dark Souls style.

The combat is the best it has ever felt for me, the only thing I'm worried about is if i'll have somewhere to display all the insects I want to catch.

Just like MHW. Some people do not even know what they post. They try to be game guru, even without upgrading own gears to play the latest series. You can question the level of committment, which "some of" worldbabies clearly lack.
I'm so confused at people calling this open world... The Windward Plains has, like, two REALLY big and expansive areas, and the rest is kinda just what you'd expect from a modern MH locale... Is that all it takes for it to be open world lol? Idk how the locales connect to each other just yet, but to me it's looking more like interconnected, but still very much separate levels as opposed to a single, massive world

And come on now, you're not FORCED to use the seikret except for a couple shortcuts or just to run across one of the wide, open areas. I know that people are lazy and they'll always default to the path of least resistance, but that doesn't mean you're FORCED to do anything

As for monster tracking: Monster tracks are still in the game, so it's possible that MHW-style monster tracking will be back in the full game, but we'll have to see

If you like old gathering, good for you - I'd be lying if I said I can't see the charm in it - but at the end of the day it's Monster Hunter, not Herb Gatherer, so it's not a huge loss to me that it's quicker and easier now. The game can make up for it in other ways :P

Finally some good mindless ragebait that no one in their right mind would take seerious, thank you for breaking the trend and not reposting the same slop but making a nicely written bait instead.

I highly doubt this man is serious after saying MH4U looks better than Wilds

Right lol
Not to bash the 3DS games I loved them, but gtfo outta here! Lol
They did look good for the time, and on handheld it was impressive. But anyone with eyes can tell that's a lie 🤣

Oh yeah no i enjoyed the DS games a lot too, but yeah as you said.
Agreed. I dont know how the food was in older games, in World it looks great and makes me feel like my Hunter actually is a superhuman with how much nourishment he needs.

In Wilds it looks like i get diarrhea and constipation at the same.

What the hell are you on about? 4U is the mainline game of the 4th Gen.

people are calling it open world because you no longer go back the the hub when done with the quest. the world is persistant while you are in that lobby.

i think they will be connected and hopefully you can traverse freely between "zones" if this is the case windward planes is pretty decent size for a starting area. if not then the only thing holding up "open world" is the fact that you can stick around like a never ending expedition.
