FIguring Out Mulitplayer Was Way to Complex
My friends and I are new to Monster Hunter, but figuring out how to get friends into the same party and environment was way too complex. Isn't there a way to simplify this process? Honestly, it detracted from the experience in a big way. Sometimes, we could connect to each other, and sometimes, we couldn't. This really made us rethink buying and playing this at launch together.

Find your friend ID and invite to link party. Cross play works as well during OBT.

Yeah, I agree with the OP here, the MP is jank as hell in wilds, its overly complacated and you should be able to pick up a quest in town and then go to it in a environment link. I honestly would prefer it like world. Invite friend, join lobby they are in, and go, or just join and then they pick a quest and you go.

That's what I was expecting. I invite friends, we pick a monster to hunt and boom off we go. Instead it was syncing friend id, lobby id, quests had to be available for folks yadayada. There HAS to be a more simplified design here in this era of modern multiplayer games.

The only solution is, get rid of your friends and just play with the bots they are super gud.
or just randos.
It's just simple Kappa

I found "party link" then "environment link" worked fine... once you cottoned-on how to do it, that is.

It's currently rather convoluted -- with ID's this, and multiply "linking" steps -- and Steam invite does not seem to work. For mine, it's no biggie, as 'World' was almost as clunky... If they add the ability to jump straight into a friend's world from the title screen, that will circumvent a lot of confusion.

I forgot the game even had Bots you could have, iirc u set your SOS flare settings to only summon npcs and not actual players? Kinda like God Eater and most other MH clones its usually party based.

Steam invite will set you into a link party, but won't environment link which is what you actually need to play with your friend in their "world" I'm not sure if party link even does anything.
