Charged Blade Question
Hey everyone,

I have a question for those who use the Charge Blade (CB). I mainly used it in Monster Hunter World, but I didn't like it much in Monster Hunter Rise. Now, I'm giving it another try in Monster Hunter Wilds.

My question is: How do I perform the Super Amped Elemental Discharge (SAED)? I checked the Hunter Guide, but I couldn't find any information there. I also looked online, where it suggested doing an Amped Elemental Discharge (AED) first, followed by pressing Y+B/Triangle+Circle to execute the SAED. However, I've tried this multiple times without success.

Could someone explain what I might be doing wrong, or if there's something I'm missing?

Thanks!

This is correct, although you need to have charged your shield beforehand by cancelling an AED, to do this you need to hit block early during the animation.
So, to summarize
Gather phials - AED, cancel by blocking - gather phials again - AED - SAED

Cancel AED by blocking, is it the animation where it looked like are locking shield with blade behind it? I saw that animation, it looked cool.

I think what you mean is the transformation attack, the shield charge cancel is a roundslash. The shield icon to the left of the phial gauge will also light up if done correctly
I think i managed to do it, I didn't have to cancel the animation, I think AED has to be followed up by SAED immediately, if there is even a couple of seconds delay, SAED won't happen. Which is awful mechanic. I feel like they should've stuck with ICB CB mechanic, it was solid and very fluent and cohesive. It may not be always possible to perform SAED the way Wilds has it set up, especially with the likes of Rathian who doesn't sit still. I feel like World/ICB SAED "on demand" gave players more freedom and tactical advantage

Maybe? I did it a few times, but it happened in the middle of a battle and I was more pre-occupied not getting killed LOL

You definitely need to have your shield charged either by having previously cancelled an AED or by holding the button you use to charge your phials down to do it (I think that was the animation that you meant earlier)
I think they changed it to not be "on demand" anymore because it was OP. You can still execute it instantly by doing after a perfect guard though.

Oh shield was charged, sword was also charged, that remained unchanged from World and Rise as far as I could tell, just the whole SAED aspect did. I think last few attempts I didn't do it immediately so it wasn't coming out properly.
Also, who cares is it was OP, it was more consistent. And easy to execute when needed. Now it's a little too Hail Mary especially if Monsters recover fast and move. I'll have to play with it a bit more, but I feel like if it becomes too inconvenient, I may have to switch to another main weapon.

Oh yeah, that was me being silly, I somehow thought you were a complete novice. My bad.
I think it's fine, it puts a bit more emphasis on the savage axe mode and also feels like a proper reward for executing a perfect guard

That's OK. Yeah, I loooooved CB in World/ICB, but Rise killed it for me. I hated it in Rise/Sunbreak. Right now I'm trying CB, DB and for the first time ever - gunlance xD I actually love Gunlance LOL
1. Using AED path into SAED.

2. Using from perfect guard. Not sure Guard and Guard point can bypass into SAED.

SAED is very situational compare to horizontal swings with savage axe buff which deal way better damage.

Most of the time you are going to get hit after using SAED.

I did get a spinning savage axe once, but I have no clue how I did it LOL
I remember how to do it in ICB, but im not sure of it's the same trigger in Wilds

Savage Axe is activated by by hitting the top face button after a perfect guard or by doing the R1 focus mode attack
