You can only do infinite ground combos without charging, which from what I read is bad DPS compared to just doing charge attacks into finisher (which bores me to death). there is no "charged" looping combo for continuous damage.
If so, they gutted my baby. I'm sad I can't wail on a monster with triple buff while it's down for a while, it was my favorite thing about the weapon. Wish you could at least hold off using the "finisher" and actually fight the monster for a while.
basic Xbox controllers can't do the Charge Kinsect move without claw grip, and yeah this sucks.
With Dualshock or some other gyro-supported controller it is easier to do (as this removes the need for right stick for aiming). Also a controller with back paddles can also help.
Charged combos however should be fairly straightforward with any controller? I've seen people say you need claw grip for those but I haven't come across the need as of yet.
oh okay! I will try this, that will alleviate my biggest disappointment about the weapon.
question is, is this combo viable DPS? or is doing the finisher as soon as possible better?
if so I hope they nerf the finisher damage or change something about it.
Do IG users find the whole extract system fun? I've never really touched the IG because the extract part always felt like needless fiddly busywork, but the weapon is pretty fun on its own with the multi-hitting grounded moves and on-command aerial action.
I just don't get why it has all the bug parts of the weapon. Always felt unnecessary to me. I might actually try it for a while in Wilds because focus attacking a wound circumvents all the extract collection minigames.
once you get used to getting the extracts it's just second nature. In World, really all you needed was Red buff to get your DPS online. Then you could grab White and Orange while avoiding attacks or whatever else.
In Wilds you need all three, but now there's like half a dozen different ways to get all three. they made it braindead easy to get all extracts in Wilds. this also makes it less dynamic in Wilds compared to World (I feel it waters down the whole point of the extract system)
I loved the bug in World because it could put Blast clouds on the field you could hit for blast damage. felt so satisfying to hit those. I believe that part of the kinsect is pretty unchanged in Wilds.
I wouldn't say they were undesirable in World.
White still functioned as a catalyst for Red, making the damage even stronger. and Orange + White gave you light earplugs and some defensive buffs. Triple Buff was basically Burst Mode where you want to maximize your attack before it runs out.
"Tunneling Red" is actually not a good strategy in World.
I just think requiring all three buffs is extreme. it removes player expression and freedom by forcing you into a decision, and that on-the-fly decision making of what buffs you want is what made the extract system fun.
The best strategy when not going for constant triple was get red&white, and then get orange to refresh the timer for all 3. Getting just red was a really bad plan
do u mind sharing the keybinds u set for insect glaive that’s similar to how it is on world? i’m having a hard time adjusting to the new controls on wilds.
