Auto path and resource highlighting?
I played only MHGU before and these features looks so stupid to me. I can't shake the feeling that I'm playing a mobile game.
Mount gameplay is just a point and click every shining object. No need to learn map or think about tracking at all.

Am I wrong or this is really how it supposed to be?

Unfortunately MH is turning more and more into an auto boss battler. If you are gonna let someone auto to the monster then why even have a map. Just make it an arena game if that’s the game they want to make.

Yes, that's what i'm thinking too.
What the point of an open world if players haven't any reasons to interact with it...
It looks like they wanted to respect players' time, like people say. But instead it's just more meaningless time in the game.
The game doesn't fight for you it's not gonna be an auto battle game jeeze don't cry cuz they made gathering faster and more smooth in the open world so you can stay focused on rapid hunting rather then interrupting that for gather missions, which have always bin the worst part when you had to stop to gather silly stuff.

Common items should be decently pleasant to gather, now stronger items that make the meta can be a little extra make us work for them. But it shouldn't take away from hunting for long periods of time.

I don't think mount has an auto path of resource collectables. You can freely move your mount, you are probably thinking it's auto.

In MHGU we had palico adventures and palico trades to gather common items which was fine. I was gathering something common myself only when I was out of supplies which isn't a case with infinite accsess to storage.
So in my opinion it would be better to have something like that here but let me track monsters myself so I'll have the reason to learn an area, shortcuts etc.
