Raytracing - YES or NO?
Do you all think Raytracing will have a more visual effect on the other bioms of the game? So far we only have a very noticeable sneakpeek of it in the Benchmark at the Oasis:

(timestamp 30:33 )

There you can notice it quite clearly with the reflections and shaders of the water.

What do you all think? Will it be more noticeable in the rainforest for example, or is the visual improvement not worth the performance hit?

I turned it off and gained like 1-2 fps. I’ll just leave it on.
not worth. the only games where it is worth is minecraft and cyberpunk. in other games, you wont notice anything. unless you are verry focused to find that stuff.

What do you think of the water reflections in the oasis? Would have a larger impact in the rain forest. I mean, without you have no avatar or sky reflection.
You'll likely see a huge difference of RT on vs RT off in the oil biome if anywhere, that and caves.
seems to only affect reflections.
so i would say its minimal use unless there is loads of water

ray traced lighting is where the big visual gains happen imo

you have reflections even without ray tracing. Raytracing only uses a realistic method while the classic only hits on the object.

Yes and no, some games rely soley on RT to do reflections. Hogwarts legacy for instance has no reflections what so ever without RT, with RT, however, the floor reflects, mirriors aren't grey splotches with nothing there, etc.

What is this video supposed to prove? I had reflections without ray tracing.

IT quite literally shows you in the video, there is no reflections without ray tracing lol. There is light casting on the spot which looks like reflections, but the very first thing he shows, is the mirror is a grey splotch, with RT, it has a reflection.

thats how it looked for me without raytracing ;)
See.. I don't get the raytracing hype?

Every time I turn raytracing on in any game I find it looks worse than just using SSR. And for it looking worse you get... way less FPS.

please check the example i posted. You see there is no sky reflection in the non raytracing ones.

I think the same. I think it looks awful in cyberpunk, shadows look far too dark and drawn out the scene and glass objects have a weird fizzle effects on them. I always turn RT off.
