Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds

Wilds Desert is just kinda ugly
I´m sure the later foresty and jungle type areas will look better, but the constant grainy and blurry feel the game has, coupled with the vast empty desert plains that are all the same color, really make the 1st area of the game feel incredibly ugly and offputting. Deserts did not look this bad in older games, but I´m guessing it´s cause the sand was a bit more brighter and the map design was ensuring it didnt constantly be the only thing you see. Hell I started playing Monster Hunter 1 last year and the desert in that game feels nicer than the Wilds desert, even if there´s an obvious difference in graphical fidelity.
This isn´t a deal breaker or anything I just wanted to complain a bit/discuss idk

There are waaaay too many filters on the screen making the game look like ♥♥♥♥ no mater the settings your playing on.

Art design is bad. It looks washed out with a realistic graphic style. Like mid day photographs. Their focus should have been less on realistic graphic and more on making a good looking art design.

How do you make a good looking desert? It's sand, in this case, it's sand and rocky cliffs with some oasis parts sprinkled in.

"Look at world." sure, you know, just have 550+ hours on world, but I'll look again, oh look, sand and cliffs with sprinkled oasis and underground caverns. What am I looking at exactly?

Are people just missing the whole "this is based upon disasters" theme..

Yeah it looks bleak.. THAT'S THE POINT.

Its just barren and not interesting as a zone, Capcom decided to go open world without understanding how open world works.

Or maybe open world is just open world and there's nothing to be 'understood' about it because it is just open world?

Or you're just missusing the word and explain it as linear vs non linear? o,O
agree, subjectively looking worse than World.

Old games where more limited and had to fit things denser. Thinking wilds desert is bad cause it actually has bigger open sand space is "wild"

totally agree on this, world art design was ten times better than this

Not really, they didn't bother to make it interesting to traverse or explore, everything is on auto-run, whats the point of making open world instead of distinct zones in a not so big, but well defined map with shortcuts etc you need to learn?

Its same lack of experience as with DD2, where they boasted how good was their open world and how bad open worlds need fast travel. And their open world was terrible, maybe one of the worst. Capcom if following trend without trying to learn how it works.

i did for like 3 hours, and i've seen many videos for both World and Wilds.
you can easily tell from any video or even a screenshot that Wilds looks worse, even with Youtube compression you can still notice the blurriness from the upscaling being used.
