Benchmark on Linux is horrible (16.97 FPS, score 4235)
3070 + 5600X + 32GB ram on 1440p lowest settings, FSR ultra performance, frame generation on.

GE-Proton9-23, Wayland, Fedora 41, KDE Plasma.

Doesn't run well on 720p either (20-30 fps).

30-60% CPU utilization.

EDIT:

It's a VRAM issue. Anything more than Steam being open, such as opening Discord to talk with friends while I play the game, instantly causes me to lose most of my frame rate. Even in the most optimal situation with nothing open at the lowest settings I am getting only 70 fps. Compare that to Black Myth Wukong 70 fps w/ FSR ultra perf 40-60% at 4k resolution, frame gen, medium to high settings, low effects, w/ a bunch of applications open, and I find no justifiable way to explain this games performance.

I hear that people who dual boot find they get 10-20% more performance on Windows, however that would still not be enough for me to properly enjoy the game with the performance/visuals I am getting. So regardless I will not be picking up this game. Dragon's Dogma 2 ran better on the same engine, and that game had awful CPU problems and was severely unoptimized. I have been able to run every new gen CAPCOM game until now.

EDIT 2:

Tried X11, lost 5 more fps; it's not a Wayland issue. I also tried Proton Experimental, doesn't change anything.

EDIT 3: turning off Steam's in-built recorder allowed me to hit a good VRAM on medium settings 4k - 1440p on DLSS, allowing me to hit acceptable framerates. However these framerates were extremely inconsistent and would go up and down constantly by a margin of 10 fps, so expect if you're hitting 60 fps to randomly drop to 50 or less on a constant basis.

EDIT 4:

I'm sick of discussing this. The game runs on Linux.

The only performance benefits on Windows is not because Windows = pog, it's because Nvidia released drivers that aren't on Linux yet. The 10-20% uplift of these drivers do not mean the game runs good on Windows, because the framerate you get from that is still unacceptable for the visuals present.

Dragon's Dogma 2 got obliterated by reviews for bad performance on all platforms, this game WILL be the same, and is already showing signs.

This isn't a matter of Windows vs. Linux, my original title was assuming it was because of Linux, but if you actually read through the post I discuss WHY this is a VRAM issue. If you can not understand why VRAM is the issue even after reading this post, and still somehow think that magically Windows is giving you 50 more frames than Linux because Windows = pog. you're not capable of reasoning.

OOOOOOh you are using nvidia on linux system ........................ there is your issue. nvidia are anti open source, so they are staying away from linux.

I have updated Linux drives on Nvidia and can run other AAA games like Resident Evil 4 remake and Black Myth Wukong. What you said is only half true. It's true that Nvidia is closed source/proprietary, but it's wrong that they are staying away from Linux, they make their own drivers for Linux especially that you can download, and are even supporting Wayland.

Dragon's Dogma 2 also runs on my PC despite that game being poorly optimized I could managed above 60 fps at medium to high settings at 1440p, except in cities because of the CPU issue they had, which would put me down to 40 fps.

believe me brother that they are restricting progress on linux (even thou they are saying otherwise juuuust recently). switch to win10 and you will see double that number on dlss quality 1440p

EDIT i talked to people on discord and they say to turn down the texture. and yes nvidia driver still has issue on linux distros.

Frame gen seems to be messed up somewhere, also which Linux distro you using

No thx, I'm not switching to Windows 10. I can run every other AAA game except for MHWilds and FF16. Everything else runs perfectly as you'd expect, not frame issues at all. I don't like Microsoft and Linux is better than it at everything other than getting support by developers of software/games.

Fedora 41 with KDE Plasma latest fully updated on Wayland.

I was running lowest graphics possible. It said 7/8 gb vram used at lowest graphics.

Nvidia has started making open source drivers.

are you on a gaming laptop or desktop?
if on a laptop probably the iGPU is the one rendering.

it is just the driver, any 3070 can do double that number on windows systems. wait a bit until nvidia launch new driver. (i would have daily drive my ubuntu if not for anticheat as all my game using anticheat)

Not true. Nvidia on Linux will usually be within single digit fps of the windows equivalent.

Kek.

That's what happens if you outsource your game to India. Even DD2 ran better and looked better btw.

Yes, I agree. I ran DD2 infinitely better on the same rig. In fact that was back when DD2 released without any patches and when I was on X11 instead of Wayland on older Nvidia drivers. I bet if I played it again it would run smooth asf in and out of cities. The lowest I got in cities in that game (cpu mess at launch) was higher than the highest fps I got in this game at 720p with frame gen on w/ lowest settings. Same engine, same developers... It's over.
