Monster Hunter Wilds

Vezi statistici:
Which Monster Hunter game got you hooked in the Series?
For me I had gotten a psp Metal Gear Solid edition (the Green One) and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. That was the Start of it for me. Little did I know Metal Gear Solid Peacewalk (the game that had come with the psp) Had a monster hunter Collab, like missions where you fight Rathalos and a completely Exclusive Monster was Gear REX! it was crazy for me cause you can literally use guns throughout the game to take down theese monsters. Imagine taking down a Rathalos with a Heavy Machine gun and Solid Snake just Screaming!

Meanwhile the series gets more popular with every release. I'm not sure why people are so adverse to progress.

I think they are scared that they will have to adapt.

Oh that's easy. Because people don't necessarily view some things as 'progress'. Change? Sure. Progress? Subjective.

Sure, not everything is good progress, sometimes there are missteps.

But for the most part, Monster Hunter keeps moving in a positive direction. And we can clearly see that they listen and learn from each release.
freedom unite
played with my friends at school classroom at lunch, on the rooftop afterschool, and farmed solo at night so i can show off my shiny new gears to my friend at school the next day
repeat that everyday for a year before we moved on to other games and coming back to 3 ultimate on college days

good old time

As someone who started in 4U, I've enjoyed the 5th Gen a lot for the most part. I still think GU is peak monster hunter gameplay with 4U having the best story. (and yes, I've gone back to play GU and 4U after having the QoL changes of 5th Gen). I think Wilds is amazing. There are changes since 4th Gen that I dislike, but nothing I'd say "ruined the game". I dislike the unlimited access to the entirety of your item box in a hunt. I dislike the ability to change weapon and armor mid-hunt. And I dislike the GPS Trackers on monsters. Everything else (clutch Claw aside, despite it being fun to use sparingly) I've enjoyed. The reason I dislike those aspects are they ruin the "preparation" aspect of the game for me. I don't use the Tent for the item box or equipment box because that's an optional feature, so I don't want it removed because people do like it. But I wish they'd remove or at least let us toggle the monsters being tracked on the map until we tag them with a paintball or something.

I feel like the whole unlimited access thing could be fix by having left over items from a hunt be in left in a camp that is placed, and you can slowly stock up to a limited amount for restocks.

That's fine, it just devalues the whole "preparation is key" mentality. If you left on a hunt without enough Bowgun ammo, you had 3 options: abandon the hunt in shame, use what's provided in the supply chest + normal ammo, or gather supplies in the area to craft new ammo. Now you just go back to the tent and restock. Run out of max potions? Just grab some more!

I remember running out of Healing in GU against Silver 'Los and having to scramble around the map for herbs and honey to make some mega potions.

yea, it does kinda miss the whole preparation part, but going back to old gen hunting would filter a lot of people from the series. A good middle of the road option like i thought of would be nice. Cause then you have to prepare but can offset it with left over supplies.
Mine would be the OG one that released for the PSP in the USA, ever since then, I have purchased every single one.

Yeah, going backwards is never good! I'd be happy if they added an area of the game that was almost side content but fit the more "preparation is key" aspect of being on the frontier and hunting monsters. No GPS trackers on monsters, map has "fog of war" to clear up since it's all unexplored wilderness, and the supply box only has the basic couple of first aid kits, some basic ammo, and rations. "Supplies have arrived!" could pop up periodically, but you'd basically be out there hunting and exploring as long as you'd like with only what could be carried on your person, collected while you're out there, and provided as resupplies to the supply box. Add in a "send this back to base" box for the supply crews to empty out after they drop off supplies and you have a great "hunt at your own pace" concept while still keeping that OG Hunting vibe.
It was a MH game i played on the Wii back at the dawn of time, cant remember the name.
I ultimately never finished it cause i thought it was too grindy and the controls were ass, but it got me interested enough in the series to pick it up when a PC game was made.
It was Rise, then I got back to the World and now this
World was the one that got me hooked.
Iceborne was also decent expansion, but it wasn't as good as base World was because of the skill bloat issue and the importance of Clutch Claw mechanic.

Rise was also decent, but it lacked any meaningful end game content imo.
Sunbreak expansion was a big improvement for Rise, but it had the same problem as Iceborne had: skill bloat.
I also didn't like the wirebug movement system in Rise at all, because while chasing monsters I felt like I was playing a bloody spider-man game... :steamsad:

I did try MHGU on the Switch at one point, but ended up abandoning it soon after.
I guess I got spoiled by the World's dynamic map design.
