Anyone else going to try and main an unfamiliar weapon in Wilds?

Been playing horn in World for the last week, seems fun. Have only 30ish hunts with it in the entire series.

Going to try it in the upcoming beta and if I like the changes I might main it on launch. Lance probably a secondary since I’m familiar with the weapon.

Anyone else venturing outside their comfort zone?

Immediately? Probably not. The last playtest reaffirmed my love for charge blade.

Later though? Very likely.

I never really did much with gunlance in World, so I think I might give that a shot.

I was thinking of using LBG. I was usually always a melee guy, but I did use HBG a little bit in Rise. Not for too long, as I went back to DB after a while. LBG felt really good in the beta, so I'm really thinking of using it as my sub.

Nope. Though you can bet I'll have to use them all for the Arena fights. Which is always a bit hard to do for the bonus rewards tied to the Arena considering I'm bad with most of the weapons.

I've been an SnS main since I started the series in 4U, since then I've picked up Bow, Hammer, Hunting Horn, Lance, Gunlance, Heavy Bowgun, Dual Blades, Insect Glaive, and Switch Axe.

I realized that LBG is close enough to Bow and HBG, so I was like sure. I always wanted to like CB, so I figure "I'll make myself get used to it.", that just left Greatsword and Longsword.... I've always liked the idea of counter/parry weapons in other games, I'm just bad with Longsword, so again... I'll make myself get good, and at that point I can't just leave Greatsword out, can I?

So ultimately I decided I'd play all 14 weapons even if SnS is still my favorite and main. I started a new file in World (No Defender/Guardian) and used a Spin the Wheel app to decide my weapon for the hunt and I've gotten comfortable with them all, I'm surprised at how good Greatsword felt considering I hated it when I first started the series, I guess general game knowledge made it feel much better.

I even went back to GU and am using all Blademaster weapons in that game (aiming with Gunner weapons feels awful to me pre 5th Gen so I skipped those.)

The wilds lance with the slower gameplay is super fun and strong.

It really is, I was chain countering monsters and sticking to them like hot glue. It felt amazing. Far less clunky that the World Lance imo.

They are redoing the Lance, I’d not play it during the beta.

Yeah, I'm excited to see what they do with it with the rework (I'm already happy with the SnS announcement giving me Rising Slash from guard back!) so given that I already liked Wilds Lance, I hope they make it better instead of reverting it like they did with IG

Ive tried every weapon already. Some, like greatsword, will just never appeal to me. I'll probably stick to the ones I know I'll enjoy

It's less than a month to the release, they arn't doing anything. The code has most likely been locked down for atleast 4 months already.

no. I exclusively play switch axe and it's like the only weapon I like. Not gonna touch any of the other stuff ever
