Would this be a good beginner game?
This will be my very first monster hunter game and I wanted to ask the question to those that have played the beta. Would this game be a good place to start the series with or should I play a different MH game, then come back to this?

Edit: I have a bad habit of going all in on a new hobby, so I will more than likely purchase the ultimate edition.

It's got some new mechanics to it, so yes, it would be a good starter game.

That's good to hear. How good was the character creation in the beta?

Well ♥♥♥♥, of all the things I was expecting, I wasn't expecting that. That's awesome.
Two latest monHun (rise & world) always easy & friendly at first , getting challenging at mid of game.....and frickkin turtore at endgame & dlc

So this one...its possibility to be same is high

The last two games in the series (World and RIse) were the most new-player accessible Monster Hunter games yet and Wilds borrows a lot of features from those games. So yes it should be a fine entry point for new players.

There are two playtests for the game coming up next month so I would encourage you to try the game for yourself: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2246340/view/547849766230294535?l=english

I will warn you though. The controls will feel pretty clunky at first. It's not that they're not responsive but rather that each weapon employs animation locking and some attacks have a wind-up. Using an attack at the wrong time generally means you get smacked by the monster.

Just expect to need more time than normal to get used to the controls is all I'm saying. And don't worry about it if you fail the first hunt a few times. The first boss of Monster Hunter is honestly the controls.

Once you understand the controls and start to grasp the different combos for your weapon? That's when the game starts to shine. There's nothing quite like punishing a monster's big attack with your own finisher and knocking the thing on its butt.

a lot of games fall into the category of easy to learn, hard to master, i personally feel that MH is not one of those games and even at the start the learning curve is quite steep.

The controls and pacing will throw you off as you'll come with certain expectations based on other games and MH can feel very strange compared to those...

...but if you give it 15-20 hours you'll realise the immense satisfaction of "getting gud" and start to understand why people love these games, "mastering" the combat system is about as close to gaming perfection that any gamer can find.

(Either wait for the next open beta in feb or grab a copy of MH:World while you wait)
Yes it would, you might find older MH game harder though. (I assume, since it did not launch yet, but judging by world)
Also, this a new separate story so you good to jump right in.

I'd say yes... but if you like a really beginner friendly MH then try rise... its probably the easiest of all

buy mh world its never too late you still have 40days to begin with
so you get the idea of each weapon and how game works ( quest hunting , item , crafting etc .. )

This is the easiest one they have ever made. You'll be fine.
This is a piece of what was said,

"Monster Hunter Wilds is the latest installment in the franchise that promises to open up the game to casual players with new simplified mechanics and features, just like Elden Ring did for Souls games"

You should be alright. I reckon the game will still be very challenging, though, and have its walls you'll need to overcome. Depending on the type of gamer you are, you can eventually get good enough to keep climbing. Especially with other players in co-op. A lot of you younger people seem to he extremely good at games and see yourselves as average, lol. I have to get my arse kicked a lot before I can progress when playing a new franchise.
