Is it just me or does this game LOOK ugly and dull?
I haven't seen any comments about this before even when the first trailer was released but...

Don't the screenshots and previews make the game look (visually) pretty dull? It may not be the full on sepia filter plague look of the 2000s, but the wide open generic plains that look low effort feels like a BIG step down from World's visual quality and style. Not to mention the desert desert looks like... a desert so rather (once again) low effort and repetitive.

Beyond the appearance of the biomes, something about the rendering engine they're using or at least how its configured makes the came look washed out. I hope that the actual content of the game proves me wrong, but this one just isn't jiving with me visually which is a shame because I loved world!

The beta is set in a desert... Wracked by storms.

Of course it's not all vivid and beautiful and bright like some previous titles.

Other areas will be more vivid, but also maybe the tone of this one will be darker and grittier. We'll have to wait and find out.

Frankly, the desert in Wilds has more to it than the Wildspire Wastes. Much more life, lore and detail.

Most monitors come with an option to "enhance colours" these days, which frankly makes everything look oversaturated and crap, but if you want vividness... crank it up. Go nuts.
to my eyes it looks far better than world does, what are you comparing it to? even the coral reef inspired biome looked completely white and washed out in that game
are you only looking at it while its in the middle of the sandstorm or something?
even in the store screenshots you can clearly see doshaguma has actual bright red fur which not a single mhw monster even comes close to, plus these monsters are actually uniquely designed unlike world's roster which is an extra plus to the visuals
the desert/savanna area is supposed to be a desert/savanna area, not some muddy half zone like wildspire wastes. they showed the forest zone too though so not sure what you feel is missing

theres also a lot more visual detail in-game, eg. sand flying off and you/the monsters leaving footprints in the dunes, foliage can catch on fire and spread, corpses rotting, etc.
personally the only visual detail im unhappy about is the existence of the scoutflies still that you cant disable that now even highlight monster corpses too with the ugliest green sheen imaginable lol, reaaally hope they add a toggle for that ♥♥♥♥ this time around

There is no Sweetbaby bs in the game, it can't look ugly.
Look up game-play involving the Scarlet Forest or Oilwell Basin. We don't even know anything about the inevitable ice biome, either.
