Focus Mode isn't auto-lock. There is no "auto" about it.
Monster Hunter has always demanded targeting. You're not going to break specific parts without targeting them. they built on the mechanic by giving the players a toggle that helps. It's odd that you're trying to make it sound like this is completely new to the franchise.
In all seriousness, focus is way too strong, you should not be able to 360 a True Charge Slash mid-swing, or any move for that matter, but focus mode lets you do it. It makes the high-damage routes way too easy.
