Thats the mainline Ice map we're getting for the next 6+ years ?
Honestly, I'm loving the first two maps, but I can't help feeling disappointed that we're stuck with one of the worst ice maps ever made for this game, especially considering the incredible work they did with the Hoarfrost Reach.

Wilds has an amazing weather system, and we could've had an ice map where the snow melts during the plenty, revealing vibrant grass and flowers, with northern lights illuminating the night. Snow could fall during the fallow season, and blizzards could rage during the inclemency. Instead, we got this black and white, claustrophobic map with barely any seasonal variation and a strange layout.

You can tell that the latter maps in Wilds were rushed due to the drop in quality compared to Plains, Forest and Basin, plus the fact that while those maps are connected through loading zones disguised as caves, the other areas are connected through a 'Press B to travel' invisible wall.

Sry but thats total BS in every PoV. The reason for the last 2 areas not having a direct connection to the 1st 3 is the massive distance they have:

Because the whole world in Wilds, is one massive connected landscape.

The shimmery... vines? Around the ice caverns are absolutely dreadful looking, they look like a graphics bug. I just hope eventually we can mod the game into something that doesn't look like aggressive ass.

I mean the ice map is supposed to be a icy wasteland.

I suppose I didn't like the Ice map or Wyveria that much. Vertical layered maps are just annoying, though they do spicy things up.
God, this ice map is so trash I forgot there was supposed to be "dynamic" weather when fighting in there...

The maps past the first 2 really feel like they started to run out of steam.

Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest feel like really flushed out maps with their visuals, layout, and weather systems.

Oilwell Basic is a really good map but you start to see the whole weather system idea they had start to deteriorate. In the first 2 maps you can really tell when the weather is different and what changes. But oil well its a really blink and you will miss it, the only real noticeable thing is the heat in the areas and that's about it.

Then Icehard Cliffs and Ruins of Wyveria comes into the mix with really bad layout, completely and utterly uninspired visuals that are way to similar to each other. White, grey and more white and grey. Then you have the weather system and I'm going to be honest chief..... I could not tell you a single thing that changes with the weather system in either of these maps if you held a gun up to my head.

This isn't just the maps either... Other mechanics feel like this, like the whole herd and alpha mechanic they had. The herd mechanic never gets better after the First Doshaguma one and seems to be abandoned really quickly and I don't think the Alpha mechanics is used outside Doshaguma.

its supposed to be a very high altitude area, literally the top of an ancient city, it wouldnt make sense if it was constantly shifting as if it was on flat land

that said there could definitely be a better cold area... it would be cool if we had one where the ice is frozen for one weather but melted the next that marine monsters migrate to. but i have no idea why you think its impossible to have one in the expansion?
is there even enuff space for tigrex or barioth or w/e else they might add lol
Yeah, i just can't imagine a Barioth hopping around in these caves...
It's already not big enough for the monsters they have there.

Gore takes up like half of most areas, and Jin has his own special side-map because there's nowhere else it'd fit.

If they had made a big main ice map for Jin, then it would have had plenty of room for all the ice monsters.
