Gunlancers, do you have any tips for re-loading? Or in general?
Trying to learn the weapon.

I often have a problem where my wyrmstake? (the middle ammo) is empty, and then the monster goes down, so i reload to do my big combo but because of the reloading taking so long the monsters usually get up before I can do the multi blast.

Also one of my issues is not knowing what to do on verry small windows of attack. Like: monster comes, I block, and now what? Just poke it a bit and dodge untill a bigger opening comes up?

Also I never really see an opportunity to do a full burst combo, like if I have time to do an upward slash into a downward smash into a full burst i feel like I have time to do a wyrmstake combo?

Anyway yeah, reloading is a big problem for me, like do I do it all the time? when do I do it? Any tips on that?

And any other general tips would be greatly apreciated.

(This is my first MH` and I always played lance till now :D)

Your standard combo would be

X+A -> X+A -> X+A -> X+A -> X+A -> X+A -> X+A -> X+A -> Full reload, rinse and repeat

You can do a quick reload with RT+A, but it would not recharge the wyrmstake.

Other than that it is situational, but most of the time you keep the combo running as long as you can.

Also, you cant seem to use the shelling and moving sidesweep as a dodge?

Like im trying to do the rathian arena quest RN and the amount of times I get carted by a fireball thats not even near me is unreal. I move shell to the side + side sweep to the side and.... BOOM 10 meters away and still get hit? wtf?

This quest is horrible.

Reloading is very fast, you can slot Load Shells to make it even faster. You can press it before the previous animation finishes, and you can also press the next action before the reloading animation finishes, try it out in the training area.

Charged Shelling on small windows. For large windows, shell into sweep into wsfb.

Yes, full burst is strictly inferior to wsfb in wilds, don't use it

Reloading really isn't that time consuming or hard, are you pressing your buttons correctly?

You will auto quick reload (reload shells but not stake) if you try to shell with 0 shells remaining. This is helpful when you just want to do shell hop repositions (hop -> upthrust ->shell -> -> moving wide sweep in focus mode)

Rathian's fireball has a larger hitbox than what you think. Trying to dodge it is possible, but have you considered... guarding? You know, with the huge shield that gunlance has... And if you time it right, you could even Perfect Guard it. Crazy, I know

The first blast combo can be done quite fast with a simple "Shelling" ( B + optional movement) into "Moving Widesweep" ( Y + movement ) and then a "Wyrmstake Full Blast" ( Y + B )

The full combo is only viable if you know the monster and the moments where it will be static enough to hit the blasts or if it has been knocked down.

The full reload can be done anytime, especially if the monster is not in your face, but I usually wait for an attack to do a perfect guard which reloads everything and you can do a parry and lead directly into a burst attack

If you need to reload you wyrmstake you can do a focus strike on a wound or you can do it without a wound, but at this point a full reload might be quicker and more secure.

If you have a window to do the full combo with both blasts leading into the double Wyver Fire, but you dont have any ammo, then do it anway, because after the first part of the combo you do a full reload automatically.

On a side note: The enhanced Wyvern Fire with the faster animation can be activated after each blast combo, a perfect gurad and after the first wyver Fire which makes it even quicker
