After letting the game settle does anyone else feel this is underwhelming?
I have clocked in 140ish hours and just I still feel the game is underwhelming. We are still seeing tons of bugs/crashes and optimization is still awful. We now have 30 large monsters(with updates and 3 subspecies) world launched with 30 and rise had 46. So we really got undersold here and over priced for what the game was.

When you get past this then you got the changes to the weapons. Most all of them feel bad. I am the type of guy that has played all the weapons and even used weapons against monsters that I shouldn't have just for a laugh or a challenge. That said lets get into the weapons.
Hammer- This one is so bad the devs. have apologized and has received one buff with another coming. Hammer was one of my favorites to run until this game.

LBG- Everything that made this gun fun was kicked in the dirt. The zone feels smaller then in the past and the decos really don't help it. Right now there is little to no reason not to use pierce ammo. Then rapid fire is now a gauge just feel horrible. customization is not there.

HBG- Basically the same thing as LBG without the zone issues. Pierce is still king all with most types of ammo being worthless and customization is gone. But bowguns just feel bad.

Insect Glaive- They decided to scrap it's identity being airborne to ground it. Players complained about it and we got a neutered version of being airborne that feels janky at best.

I mean honestly I can keep going as only maybe 4 weapons are ok and even then the artian weapons making most weapons worthless to farm. Then the wonky monster changes and the fact that the fights are lackluster with the "harder" fights just being cheesy. While being easy enough to beat but every single thing is an aoe or juggling death combo/one hit. Making a fight challenging is not making a bullet sponge with this type of mechanic. World and rise just to go more recent did this better. Yes some had one hit kills and death juggles but that is all of the end game currently on everything considered "end game" like jin, xoh, at rey, and ark. Honestly the fights got boring fast for all the monsters.

I have all of the armor sets except for at rey at the moment just due to the fight is such a bore I can't put myself through it anymore. I feel like most of the weapons I liked are just not fun anymore and then just playing around the fights I find it hard to want to keep engaging the game.

How do you guys feel? still liking it or does it feel off to you?

Edit- I was off on the base number for world it's corrected here is better numbers. I got it on pc after others was added my fault.

Wilds has a total of 29 monsters. Discounting subspecies, the count lowers to 26 monsters. Out of that, 15 are brand new monsters.

World had a total of 30 monsters. Discounting subspecies, the count lowers to 27. Out of that, 18 were brand new monsters.

Rise had a total of 37 monsters. Discounting subspecies, the count lowers to 34. Out of that, 11 were brand new monsters.

i am at over 200 and still going strong.

Most weapon reworks are fine by me and they dont feel bad. I think the big winner is the Gunlance with the ability to recharge on hit now and Hammer got the short end of the stick.
On ranged weapons I have no opinon, because I never used them since the 3rd generation.

I like the ability to perfect guard, because fights evolve more into a dance the more you know the moveset of a monster

i rarely use Artian weapons because I think they look ugly and do not provide that much of a benefit that I have to use them.

If you want a fun fight with Zoh Shia or AT Rey Dau i recommend SnS and one Guard Up and learn how to perfect guard their attacks.

There might be fewer monsters at release than in other games (with the exception of Tri), but they will add a lot of them with updates and even integrate them into the enviroment.
I wonder if they will add AT also to the random encounters or tempered will be the max.

States most weapons feel bad. Names 4 types then doubles down while switching topic from weapon types to actual weapons.

Also complains about monsters being spongy and names Rise and good example.

Stay classy. :mhwilds_NG:
Not really. I didn't expect anything groundbreaking. It has its flaws but also improvements.
Other than the wound system being busted and most of the monsters being a lil too easy I have nothing to complain, since I have a high End system and performance ain't that big of a deal for me. I just hope for more unfair fights so that it evens out.

Your point white knight? Yes most of the weapons feel bad I just decided to pick the 4 that feel the worst and even stated I could keep going. I decided to move on to cover other problems so i kept that part short. Right now the only weapons that don't totally feel like crap is bow, great sword, gun lance and lance.

As of the point of rise i did not say a good example I said recent and still stand by that yes it was not that bad. I had no issues with any of them as it was not all of rises end game. As i pointed out it's not just being a sponge it's the bad design on top of it. If you don't like what I have to say move on or actually have a discussion instead of being a troll cause I don't like your favorite game. Get some class.

I have a high end system as well 13th gen processor and 4090 with 64gig of ddr5. I can run the game fine but it still runs horribly and should be smoother.

Hit a weak spot?
Was actually waiting what you have to say about the other weapons but you chose to get condescending. Never defended the game but you do what you want :mhwilds_goodbye:

I'm just glad I have another monster hunter game to play.
NeoX May 2 @ 2:44pm
With close to 300h the game is still a blast with friends. Get yourself and your friends not just on the same hunts, but make a fieldgroup and also enjoy the environment together. Just playing around and hunt whatever crosses your way with your friends just gives and exploration feeling and fun you do not have with simply joining and leaving hunts.

Like in the old days, you get the most fun and best memorys out of the monster hunter games by playing with trusted friends and the massivr group fun it brings with it.

Nope you need to be able to aim to hit a weak spot bud. If you wanted to know how about ask? You came at me with a 2 line troll response and said stay classy adding nothing to the conversation. So again another short troll reply and I am not letting you turn the thread into a fight so good day. So I am just blocking you and moving on cheers.
If it is underwhelming, why are playing it for 140+ hours? Aren't there any games that are not underwhelming for you to play?

Honestly I only play with my wife and friends. Playing this solo is just not fun for me. In world I can't tell you how many hunts I did solo and loved it but here it just feels like a slog to me. Even my friends and wife are just bombing out of the game and want to play other things.

Just under 250 hours now. My only complaint (and it's a huge, "ruins the entire experience" complaint) is the optimization and how the game runs. This game should be running MUCH better on my rig with a Ryzen 9 5900X and RTX 3080 than it does and it's incredibly frustrating to have it stutter, lag, crash and most recently simply disconnect from link parties and quests I start with friends, kicking me back to the Grand Hub lobby unceremoniously.

That being said, I really do feel like this is the Monster Hunter game made for me -- all I've wanted to do for years with this franchise is to just run between the biomes and free-hunt for hours on end. The Everwood was my favorite part of 4U, and Expeditions were my favorite part of World; I've been having tons and tons of fun just free-range hunting in Field Surveys, going after whatever monster simply crosses my path. I won't recommend the game from its performance but man am I loving everything about playing it when it works, even if it includes certain changes and elements that I wish they didn't include (such as removing tracking monsters entirely from the formula, though I get why they did it).
