I literally didn't notice ANY difference. Only difference is damage output and more aggressive. Variants should be different or it's just a gimmick
It is different. It's more aggressive with a some extra moves. Some weapons notice it more than other and have to switch up their play style compared to tempered version, just look at great sword. Used to clear it in a few minutes before, and now i have to dodge residue lightning pools every few seconds. It's less of a hassle as let's say insect glaive or HBG, for guarding weapon it really changed the dynamics of the fight.
I don't need another AT kirin with stun lightning galore every few seconds to enjoy a fresh AT.. i'm certain they will start slow and tune up as this game has a lot of new mechanics they have to balance around.
It seems to be a decent first entry, because there are plenty randoms that get carted, because they got caught off guard by the fast moves
in contrast Rey is more fair and honest, his attacks are reasonably telegraphed and don't have unfair range, he doesn't have annoying blight gimmicks and 360 spins, he's pretty stationary and gives plenty of openings, and basically he's just not dirty enough
if you play bad he will punish you and if you play well he will seem easy.
