Offset Attack Sometimes "Failing" Against Rey Dau
First time I've noticed this, but has anyone else tried to offset his big mid air flip slam attack? I've noticed whenever I try to offset this attack, I don't get the big flash as if I landed, and my guy instead sort of staggers like he hit a wall with his weapon or something.

Almost as if the attack is too strong to offset. Am I crazy or has anyone else seen this? And are there any other attacks in the game like this?

doshugama's barreling the ground with it's head
arkveld's double slam

these are such attacks that can be offset, but will "bounce" if it's not strong enough by being sourspots or threshold has been somehow raised from consecutive offsets which shouldn't happen, but may even with a fully charged gs offset.

depending on your weapon, you may have sourspotted it.

weapons like the IG are a bit unique as non offset procs are instead by super armor instead, allowing them to "offset" attacks such as uth duna's double big gravity defying flop that somehow stays in the air for a while.
The surprising detail about this interaction is it counts as being hit, rendering the rest of the attack safe to follow up on at the cost of health while charging attacks such as ajarakan's shoulder in the ground charge will give an iframe offset proc instead but leaves you vulnerable to the same attack as it's past the invuln period, causing them to be punished for offsetting that.

I believe weapons beside IG in bounced offset should still mitigate the damage and I'm unsure if it counts towards the status buildup

IG's method is effectively a minds eye that forces a trade if it doesn't proc through super armor towards rey dau if it isn't causing an offset in my case.
Including tempered mizutsune's tailslam, it took 30-40% roughly of my health from a successful offset instead of being 1 shot.

Rey dau's a bit of an ass to offset for certain attacks for certain weapons if you aren't in a natural moving state like IG, the headbutt it does with electricity is immediately followed up by a punish to beam you, IG avoids this by being able to actually move immediately through the followup + dodge while other weapons are... just iframe the lil zap i guess through a roll.

Interesting. Yeah I use Switch Axe so it also has super armor when using an Offset, I think all weapons do as long as you land the hit.

And I don't believe the bounce actually builds the offset knock. Switch Axe first offset always topples. But whenever I landed this hit as my first offset, Rey didn't budge and I didn't get the flashy effect from the offset. In another run, it didn't build up towards the next one either. SA needs two offsets for the second topple, and I still needed two after the bounce.

It's a neat interaction but definitely can mess your flow up.
