you have like a split second to react and avoid these attacks, you can't have this kind of bs going on
I noticed monsters in this game really punish over commitment, they really don't want you to do a complete combo, you're going for a basic combo and by the time you're about to finish the last hits they will smack you into the dirt, so you really have to know when to stop and when you can get away with finishing your attacks

one of a weird memory i have while fighting normal tempered rey dau is being able to just go under the wing without caring if it's left or right.

I never got a a chance to observe from a distance, but I'd probably check if the explosions are matching the hurtboxes but using the wrong animation which I have no evidence on but theory.
his normal tempered version is more fun to fight against
SnS is fast enough that you can parry the wing attack and the explosion after that and then again when it does the same attack with the other wing which allows you to do a counter slash 4 times, while it is locked in the animation
