Zone 17 great lake
And technically fish will respawn after enough time has passed but refreshing the area will usually be much faster.

I second Forest zone 17. Gaiju will spawn at either end, and large fish/giant squid will spawn in the middle.

If you want to do the 30 whoppers (aside the squid) quick, it's the Forest in Area 18: West Camp during Plenty & Morning. Jump down to the small pond just before the ledge to area 15.

Almost always 1-2 great trevally. Stay close, let them bite and instantly reel them in. Change map to Training Area, back to Forest - repeat. Done in half an hour.

The squid spawns at night at the Great Lake. Can easily get 3-4 of them per night.
NOTE: squids dont count
only trevally spearfish gourmet tuna and gajau

The huge reservoir at the top of the map.
And the best time for it is Inclement Weather... at night. Not even joking. Almost all the giant fish show up during a storm, so you have much more variety to choose from. And the huge squids show up at night, and they're pretty easy to lure in. The only issue is visibility...

False info. The giant squids absolutely count.
