Curious about all the HBGs in Gravios Blockade online
People say that the bowguns are ass in Wilds, and statistics show that HBG and LBG are in the bottom 3 weapons used.

So how come every SOS I join for this quest has at MINIMUM 2 HBGs? Maybe it's easier to farm it or something, but if it's good for farming why aren't there more in the rest of the game? Seeing any is like a unicorn, less common that Hunting Horn most of the time.

The people doing it seem to also love spamming flash pods, which I don't fully understand since the quest really only ever lasts 2 minutes and it's not like it can run away.

flash are for keeping in place or no aggro
the weapon usage statistics are pointless because it just shows how many ppl play the weapon and not how many are good with it. since you can use 2 weapons i dunno how they acount for it

hbg is still good yet not as in world (currently) lbg style has sadly no side step reload but yeah its the usual mh stuff no one should worry
coz most ppl run ls or dbs
The META to farm Gravios is to use a water HBG. Just shoot at the belly with that elemental ammo, and you will do ~400 damage per click without much effort. You have 60 bullets plus a few other batches you can craft.

LBG and HBG effectiveness, if using elemental ammo and pierce (the strongest types of bullets in this iteration), depends on the hit zones of the monster and its length, and the weakest against these variables in this game is Gravios.

It is more like the customisation and intricacy of Bowguns has tanked and the way they're used has been changed considerably.... but Elemental Ammo with either Bowgun is still obscenely potent... especially against a monster like Gravios which has extreme weakness to Water.

Bowguns are still a nice comfort weapon, but the lack of a recoil down skill means that Spread is worthless.
For Gravios specifically they are the best.
Gravios is really weak to water elemental damage. He also has a really big body that is susceptible to attacks that pierce and hit multiple times.

Bowguns are really, really strong against him.
So then how have I never seen HBGs against Gravios in normal play? Will people only use it when they know it's easy and can't go anywhere?

I don't believe that's true, because I've also seen some of these HBG users in the quest get one-shot by the Gravios. So what, by definition they're not really using the weapon or something? The statistic DOES matter because for every multiplayer quest I join, I see maybe one HBG or LBG every ~5 hunts, if I'm lucky. Way less common than the usual Bow, Longsword, Gunlance, etc. but in this quest 2 out of the other 3 people are always HBG. It reminds me of in Rise when everyone played pierce LBG, but it's just this one quest. It seems so strange, like it's so far removed from the rest of the game that normal player behaviour doesn't seem to apply.

Not that I need to but it'd be fun to try. Anybody's got a good build to share for this? I havn't really used hbg in this game, just a little in the Dosha arena challenge quest.

I think artian HBGs are best? What should I try to roll for?

I'd contest and say I see bowgun against Gravios and Uth Duna a lot more than other monsters.

It's just a really efficient farming method right now since you have an infinitely repeatable quest with an event quest, it's in the wounded hollow, and the Tempered monster and ingredient rewards are pretty good.

I killed like 100 Gravioses in basin with water HBG, where were you?
Probably missed it, because it takes like a minute or 2, just with one might seed, and like 40 seconds going full unga bunga.

HBG works so well because Gravios constantly flinches from the damage, which he is not supposed to do after second belly break. But when he flinches he steps back, so it's kinda tricky to maintain critical distance. You need to trap him near a wall which is easy to do in the arena.

Being ass doesn't mean being bad.
LBG and HBG are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boring, the gameplay loop is incredible simple and even people who play only lbg/hbg can't deal with it anymore. Whoever they're very strong and very easy to use, it's much better/easier to shoot water on gravios than play any other weapon.

Nobody needs spread.

Okay I tested it. It's pretty OP... no wonder it's being used to farm Gravios. And for some reason I feel like I do more damage with the blossom armor set than with gore + Zoh. Does the blossom set have a hidden buff or something?

It increases attack and defence while the blossom festival is running. Read its Set Bonus.

4 pc adds 9% raw damage while the festival is active.
