fighting on slopes or ledges janky or am i crazy
starting this off saying i got the game on ps5, when i upgrade my rig ill be purchasing on pc. anyway

ive noticed something off whenever fighting on a ledge or a slope, it seems as if there is some sort of miscommunication between player and monster models. im a LS main (shhh) and the kit mainly revolves around counter attacking.

we can use arkveld for example in this situation, when he does his overhead double chain slam, his attack connects easily 5-6 frames earlier than it would usually if i am on a slope. it does not matter if i am above below or level with him, it is consistently early which throws the counter window off. even the smallest ledges in the scarlet forest has this effect.

ive tried to rationalize it as if im above him, the downward slam would land earlier as im higher elevationally in the attack animation compared to flat ground, but the same takes place when i am below grade. this is extremely apparent when fighting tempered arkveld, as his attacks are alittle faster, the dodge/counter window is drastically changed on a slope.

does anyone else experience anything similar?

Well yeah if you are at a higher elevation of course overhead attacks will reach you sooner

Aside from the sand dunes it's not really a problem, but on the dunes next to the oasis the combat definitely becomes more jank, and pretty much Arkveld is the only monster that becomes worse for it, Rey Day and Balahara are telegraph heavy enough that you can dodge them even at an incline

As a dual blades user, I always pull monsters away from slopes.

I absolutely hate how the slightest attack will become me getting launched.
Sure, it looks funny the first time. But it quickly gets really annoying.

Yup, i also found slopes extremely janky.
Fighting on the desert dunes is absolute bogus.
Everything about ledges / slopes has always been a nightmare...
I can somewhat tolerate their existence because they exist in reality and it would be unrealistic to omit them... but fighting on them is consistently horrible and sometimes I will just forego attacking entirely until I have successfully lured the monster AWAY from the ledge / slope.

yes this is what i thought too about the elevation, but being below the monster yields the same exact result, the hitbox is not delayed it still hits you earlier. we can agree that hunting on the dunes is an unmitigated disaster though
