Is Blast the god element/status?
So I was scrolling through the monster list and noticed there isn't a single monster immune to it with every monster at least being neutral to it; Ice is in a similar boat but it lacks a strong effect attached to it. Blast weapons also tend to still have respectable raw damage, whereas element weapons often see up to a 200 point drop at a comparable tier.

Sure, Paralyze and Sleep can buy your squad time and free hits, but those status bars jump way up after activating a single time; meanwhile, Blast caps quickly and can be reliably applied every other Greatsword combo to damage multiple parts. Monsters also rarely resist the flinch the explosions cause.

Poison also reaches its extension cap quickly with dedicated builds, but it only damages the core HP instead of breaking/severing parts.

Wait, they removed blast resistance buildup?
While I can't say for the true meta of every game, I've been playing with Abnormal Status builds basically all the games I've played (Gen/World/Rise/Wilds)
Blast is quite good with part damage causing staggers, very nice for weapons that require a setup for a payoff.

Always end up playing Poison in the end lol, and in Wilds yeah base poison is so easy to build up and keep up that you can basically ditch all the Venom jewels for something else this time.

It's there, but it seems to hit its hard cap so fast that you can reliably keep re-applying it; meanwhile, Sleep/Paralyze take so long after the first application that the monster will likely be dead before you get a second application, nevermind a third.
I was finding blast to give me like an extra 1300ish damage on most hunts... which is fine but less than the damage i get from the 2 paralyzes i tend to get per most hunts by alot. But not all of that damage from paralyze can really be counted as only happening because of the paralyze so it gets complicated.

This is from a hunting horn perspective

You get 7 Blast procs per hunt? That's actually a lot. I'm just surprise the monster isn't dead before the 4th Blast proc.
i made a gravios dual blade build for the memes. Ended up getting 11 procs throughout a hunt. That's 1650 damage. Which is trash lol. Blast is not meant to be a damage dealing status.

Hammerbro echoes this sentiment. I get two paralyzes per typical hunt, and can easily drop over 1000 damage myself each. No idea how much my team can pile on, but I don't see how Blast procs can keep pace with my anecdotal numbers.

dragon is best for fast weapons because of how busted the element skills are for that element with the bonus procs.

para for slower weapons. sleep for the heavy hitters like hammer or greatsword on really short hunts like with frenzy monsters. para kind of loses its purpose when monsters are stunlocked by default so the wake up hit gives a bit more.

Then there is good old RAW and affinity with Pierce HBG, you don't need status or elemental when your shooting with 100% crit rate and crit boost per shot.

all status effects are better on wilds. there dosnt seem to be a cap to how many times something like sleep or paralysis can proc

personally iv had something fall asleep 5 times during a fight. not really tried out any blast weapons because most of them are negative affinity but i might make an artian one to try it out

just wish they would make layered weapons already the artian stuff looks like ass
I love blast(blaze 2) blast(blaze 2) is my favorite the funny number makes me happy
