The game is easy even without meta sets, that's one of the point of people not being that much interested on artian. It doesn't matter if an artian weapon can give you ~5% more damage when you already can do more than enough damage with craftable weapons. Not mention the effort you need for artian.
Look man, i hate to break it to you, but when you claim something in a non competitive game is "OP" your point is already self defeating.
Why nerf something in a game like MHW? There is literally no reason to. If you want to have "nerfs" then just equip lower gear, and fight the monsters in your weaker state, until you have fun. Trying to get the devs to take away other players fun, is pretty lame.
You have the capability of nerfing yourself, so use some self control and do that, instead of running the top end max % speedrun dps builds and complaining about things being "OP".
Genuinely i'm so confused as to why players can't just see the problem is themselves. Any complaints about "balance" are just silly in a game like this, where the point is to just hunt giant monsters.
Inherently another problem is defensive related skills just feel worthless in general now. They use to be niche and now they're objectively worthless. Soundproof against brute tigrex? yes yes yes. Windproof against kushala? yes yes yes.
Now functionally windproof not only doesn't have a niche, only 2 monsters can inflict wind on you and it's a minor inconvenience of half a second one time in a fight in the worst case scenario. You can make the argument straight defense and elemental def skills will be more useful in the expansion, and I highly doubt that tbh. But situational def skills can't be made useful in the expansion short of bad game design, because ideally you use high rank to introduce mechanics and flesh them out later down the path, it would just be jarring to have windproof so useless and suddenly make it mandatory in it's usefulness in the expansion.
And hammer.
The problem isn't even armour skills so it's obvious you don't even get what people are complaining about.
i've seen the sentiment especially echoed on youtube that X must be nerfed, or Y is OP and cant stay in the game because it makes it too easy. Its just a bit annoying to see over and over, and i wish people would cut the devs some slack. Optimization is an issue i'd rather see focused on right now, personally.
Arkveld too slow imo.
This^^. OP in a PvE game = lol. And even then, there are a ton of cheaters = massive facepalm. We saw how "easy" the game is with the insane ammount of cheaters on the arena boards...
Also sets. Try running Zoh Shia in Chatacabra gear if it's too easy. Without reinforcements. Or in Low Rank armor. Use weapons rank 5 and under. Missmatched elemental attributes = hunt Nu Udra with a Fire weapon, etc. If the game is that easy, there are ways to make it way harder if you need the challenge. For the rest 95% of players, difficulty is fine. On the easy side, true, but that's the charm of Monster Hunter - go in, kill some monsters, have some fun. This is not Dark Souls. We are also just High Rank right now, there is no Master Rank yet, what do you expect. World was uber easy in High Rank, too. For a reason - newcomers need a place to learn to play the game - that is everything before MR - the tutorial.
Then there is the reality - in a game that "easy", when a new monster comes in, all I see is the ambulance cart cats working overtime. The new monsters literally wipes the floor with meta gamerz. Everytime one (oh even more at a time, oh lord) of the players carts, I think "I bet he had "perfect" meta build and gear..... Look where it got him." There is a reason there are comfy skills - in a pure meta game, these skills are worthless as they don't increase damage. Luckily, this is not a meta competitive title - it's a comfy PvE title that makes you smile - these skills are to make your stay as pleasurable as possible and make you play the game more. Imagine having fun in a videogame...
