7800xt Fps drops
I'm running a 5700X with 32GB of RAM and an RX 7800 XT, but the game just doesn't perform the way it should. At 1080p, I'm getting huge frame drops—sometimes down to around 35 FPS. GPU usage is all over the place, and some CPU cores are hitting 85%. Whether FSR is on or off, set to Quality or even running at native resolution, it doesn't make much difference. Actually, it runs a bit better at native.

To make it at least somewhat playable, I had to bump it up to 4K with FSR set to Quality. It still doesn’t hit 60 FPS, but at least it's more stable, hovering between 35 and 50 FPS.

PS: A friend of mine with a 4070 gets a stable 60 FPS, using a 5600 and 32GB of DDR4 RAM.

I also run 7800XT. It's just the way things are with this game.

1. The game is MASSIVELY CPU-bound, while your 5700X is pretty decent, 7000 and 9000 series or any X3D CPU are much faster in this game.
2. Game optimization is nill.
3. 7800XT, despite all its power is still chiplet based and those are prone to FPS dips, because of internal data trasfers. Games are supposed to program around that but in MH WIlds' case - hahaha. There is a reason AMD moved back to monolithic GPUs with the 9070XT.

That said, there are ways to make sure you get a little better performance :

1. Delete you cache files in the game's directory - there are several, might be 1-4. Anything with cache in its name. When you next start the game it will rebuild them and improve performance. After the last patch recently I went in and noticed nice <30FPS dips constantly, even some <25FPS slideshows. Rebuilding the cache fixed those. The game is supposed to force a cache rebuild after each update but fails miserably almost every time. So we have to do that ourselves....

2. Don't use the High Resolution Texture pack, it causes stutters, no matter what. Set the game textures to High and forget about it. High is pretty much 95% the same anyway.

3. Make sure your AMD chipset driver for your motherboard is updated. Find the correct one for your MB chipset - B550/b450/etc ? A lot of peeps forget those exist. Google it, it should be on AMD's site.
These are not just for show, they do improve performance a little bit. If you haven't installed it manually, Windows installes *some* version of it, but it is usually old - they just want your machine to work, they don't care how fast it is.

4. Check your BIOS for the FCLK speed, it should be exactly 1/2 of your RAM speed. If you are running 3200MHz RAM, set it to 1600, etc. Zen3 (such as you 5700X) needs this as it's internal data trasfer rates are tied to that. Zen4 and above have it decoupled so it's not that big of a deal anymore, but you can get as much as 10% more performance of your CPU that way.
While you are there, make sure you are using your RAM XMP/DOHCP profile - a lot people forget about enabling that. Running your RAM at 2133MHz will severely gimp your CPU.

Usually on 1080p (widescreen, so 2560x1080p), I never drop below 55-60 FPS. Average is 70-80FPS. You should be seeing much better performance that what you are getting. It's probably the shader cache (#1) but the other 3 point won't hurt to check. I play at 3440x1440p and getting anywhere from 50-70 FPS usually, some dips <50. That is native, no frame generation enabled.
So, I tested everything I could, and nothing worked. The only thing I couldn’t figure out was how to clear the game’s cache.
Yesterday I had a 4070 Super here, which I believe is slightly better than my 7800 XT, but even then I couldn’t get good stability—lots of frame drops, going below 40 FPS.
It’s either something on my end, or this friend of mine who says he’s playing above 60 FPS at 1440p with a 4070 is lying. Honestly, I don’t know what to think anymore.

There are framedrops every now and then, especially after a patch. Even with a full shader cache rebuild, FPS still stays lowish a while when you first log in. The game is doing something in the background. After about 5-10 minutes everything stabilizes and FPS goes up. But it still dips occasionally, 7800XT is chiplet-based and the game code is not optimized. If I stay in the Gathering Hub - just stay still, I get 60+ FPS, very stable, but as soon as I pan the camera or move and it dips to 50-something. This should not happen if the game was done correctly. It is what it is...

As for your friend, well besides him sugar-coating his performance (they all do), one difference could be SSD type and speed - you really need a fast PCIE 4+ SSD here. The game was designed with PS5 in mind, so 7000MB/s read / 5000 write. Running on a slower SSD could limit your performance. Perhaps his is just better than yours, that could be propping his results up.

If you are on Windows (you probably are), you can boost your FPS with FSR on Quality + frame generation. Or Lossless Scaling from Steam.

Bro, i have same build like yours. 5700x and rx7800xt. After TU1, i got blackscreen every 40 - 60 min playing. I dont know how to repair this. I have do many driver version but nothing changed. 3 weeks didnt play wilds, sad
