There is your problem right there, Laptop. ALso, no specifications, model, etc.

people need to stop gaming on laptops

"gaming laptop" is a marketing oxymoron

There probably won't be any updates that fix the performance. Capcom already made their money and the fanboys are defending and deflecting every issue the game has.

If I were you I would not hold my breath for Capcom to do anything.

If you are comfortable working on electronics then I would suggest you consider opening your laptop, blowing out any dust, repasting the CPU and GPU with Honeywell PTM7950, and propping up the rear of the laptop when you game if you aren't already doing that.

If you had an actual PC, you could install proper cooling.
Since you instead fell for the gaming laptop meme, you can't really do anything and this game is just not for you.

I am playing the game on a cheap laptop without any issues ever. Laptop is not a problem.
Modern CPUs (in desktop and laptop) are designed around throttling if there is not enough cooling. So unless that throttling was overridden, something else is/was overheating enough to break the laptop.

I could have been VRMs/RAM/etc.

Unless you modified or the laptop was old and filled with dust, this is 100% a defect of the laptop. I would reach out to the manufacturer even if it is outside of warranty.

Games by themselves cannot destroy your hardware. Defective components or overheating can destroy hardware. CPUs are designed to run at 100% 24/7 for years even while throttling.

All that said if it's a 13th or 14th gen Intel CPU, those were defective and you definitely should get a replacement/refund.

my desktop crashed as well idk if its because i was using 60fps in 3000 x 2000 ui setting in medium graphics instead of 1080p

Shot in the dark, but check if you have Windows Game Mode enabled. For some reason it instantly sets my CPU to 100% with certain games.

Sorry but this is your problem.

Pointing out the BS you doomers say isn't deflecting every issue the game has. We can call people like you out on your BS and still understand optimization is not where it should be

this game has mixed reviews, a lot of issues with this game have been reported to capcom, im not the only one on the forums talking about high cpu usage and overheating and some game can overheat your pc either by cpu or gpu and cause crashes to the game or the whole pc, cyberpunk2077 had the same issue, any game you get as early access the game isnt fully finished and needs many updates as well.

Its normal for a system to heat up if the CPU is loaded with a task that fully loads it for a longer time. Thats why systems should be build to handle these potential heat and loads with fitting cooling systems. In case these do not manage to handle the created heat, the CPU`s start to throttle down to create less heat.

If a system shuts down completely then its not properly build or configured to handle its own max load. In that case maintenance is in order and maybe some benchmark stress-tests to find the weakspot of the design. If it happens here, then also in other apps and game wirh equal system-load.

could it be that i did have it at 1080p but 3440p x 1440p display at 60fps
