Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds

View Stats:
They Erased over 4000 times on the Leaderboard
And unsurprisingly the first 7 pages are entirely full of new hacked times entered in the hours since the patch.

Honestly, it was more than I expected from Crapcom. I guess over 4000 players got reported.

That's good news. Do you know if the 4000 were all crazy stuff like sub 10 seconds?

Well, like I said, the first 7 pages now are all new entries submitted SINCE the patch and they're as batsh!t crazy as you'd expect. No sign of the Maiken guy who originally dominated the top spot... unless the new #1 is an alt account. He doesn't seem to be banned (I followed him so I could keep track of what happened) but his last login was 6 days ago... so who knows?

The first Pre-Patch result is #46 at 01'10"04
So they've definitely erased results AFTER that. Like I said, I expect it is based on reports. Presumably the ones that remain are results that were never reported... probably due to them being buried beneath a few thousand other hacked results.

And the new cut-off is around 02'20"... so neh luck to the folks with 02'21" times.

Interesting. It would be good to hear that Capcom is at least giving it the old college try. I guess we will see.

I wonder if those people were actually banned from submitting times rather than just having their times removed. They should be banned at least until the next event, imo.

The cheaters will just figure out the cut off time and there will be 10,000 of that.

Who would've known that a ranked FOMO prize would give cheaters an incentive to cheat? :summercat2023:

Jokes aside, we'll have to see what Capcom does after this arena event.
I doubt they'll learn from it and continue doing the same mistake in the future, but I do expect them to take a stronger stance against cheaters.
Even if Capcom ban cheaters, without some form of anti-cheat, or constant daily removal of cheaters and their cheated times, nothing of significance can be done.

Time Trials just have no place in Monster Hunter, as far as I am concerned, and never will have one.

They have already announced they will not be giving out prizes for positions on the leader boards going forward. I wasn't convinced they were going to even do that, but it's important to acknowledge when they do something correct.

They already shot themselves in the foot by putting useless anti cheats, anti tamper, obfuscation and encryption. Again, this is where Capcom put all its money/resources into, instead of focusing on a clean, fun, coop game with modding support. Private Lobbies exist, so we don't need this.

In addition, they could have added BattleEye/EAC as a requirement for Arena quests.
Why I still see some record less than 1 second?

There aren't cut-off times for results being erased. It is based on something else. Most probably player reports.

Firstly, I don't believe they're banning anyone. Just removing results. That is what their update patch notes suggested, backed up by my personal checking of accounts of known time-hackers.
Secondly... good. Anti-cheat measures catch decent players in the crossfire.

Time Trials just have no place in Monster Hunter, as far as I am concerned, and never will have one.
Agreed. It is quite common for Japan though.

Don't even mention that malware here. I've abandoned FromSoft for life for using that cancer.

Because they're new, as I already said.

It wasn't my preference to choose BattleEye/EAC because of how intrusive it is on a kernel level, but its effectiveness for the purpose of Arena Quests, is sufficient. Honestly a Monster Hunter game with out any anticheat, antitamper, and obfuscation is a goldmine for all players. If you want to avoid cheaters, private lobbies were available in World.

tl;dr I agree, I like the game, but I'm not going to tell them good job when they messed up to begin with.

If that's true, then at least it's something.
But then what about the FOMO pendant for this event? If we're lucky they'll make it available at a later date, perhaps at the next Doshaguma arena challenge.
That's usually how it goes.
And yeah, we should acknowledge when they do something correct, but I'm not going to tell them good job when they did something wrong to begin with.
From the PS2 days to me playing Worlds on XBOX, I do think Worlds had some of the best content (granted they also had better technology to make it compared to older titles) and they still decided to do a 180 to water down and streamline Wilds a bit too much. Doesn't mean I don't like Wilds, we still have plenty of updates to look forward to where Capcom still can fix the game and bring it up with proper content.
26 different large monsters on release (I don't count guardian variants since they're basically the same monster) + 1 new monster in the recent update + another single monster in the next iirc. But Wilds is a massive step down, I do still enjoy it and I do like that some of my friends who are complete casuals suffering from CSI (chronic skill issue) can play along and has taken an interest in the series.

Capcom doesn't want the MH franchise to die, and it's good they listen to feedback.
Given enough time I do think Wilds might reach Worlds level of content as long as we keep being vocal about the issues.
Who knows, maybe the grand camp will become a proper grand hub with future updates :summercat2023:

Most of them, yes. I can't remember exactly but i believe 3000 to 4000 are something like 0'40 to 1'01.
It doesn't matter anymore but the thing is, there's still cheated runs on the board anyway, even after deletion of the clearly ones. They just can't beat it, otherwise they would end up banning that 0.5% of legit times.
Deamo Apr 16 @ 1:22pm
Wait did they remove 4000 times or did 4000 times just get pushed off because of more cheat times being added ? It’s the last day isn’t it? Maybe it’s ever cheater for themselves trying to out cheat each other. :steamhappy:
