Long story short: no
The weapon skill triggers with how often you hit an enemy. The Great Sword is not known to be a quick hitter.
Layered weapons cant come soon enough.
Skill is fine and it's damage adds up over longs hunts, but for GS user these extra ~400 damage/minute aren't that impactful when you can hit TCS for 800+ damage over and over
Theoretical numbers are all fine, such as "400damage/minute", but they are also not usable in actual hunts.
Sure the added damage is not bad - extra damage is never bad - but there are better choices for the way of how Great Sword is used and played.
