the recoil is stupid high
the damage isnt worth the animation lock meaning you can literally attack more doing more damage with any other ammo type so the DPS is garbage.
and bowgun damage isnt even top tier by any means even using meta stuff in this game so shooting your DPS even more with spread feels awful and your just making more work for yourself il use it cause its fun but im not gonna pretend its good thats just false the numbers dont lie (in the current build/TU1)
on top of that spread has a minimal crit distance away from the monster meaning damage is reduced heavily. monsters move a lot in this game and staying in crit distance is crazy obnoxious when your shot gun decides to stop hurting the enemies cause they are to close.
+ gunner reduced defense up close with a weapon that has ridiculous amount of end lag that keeps you in place on all your attacks means you will get hit far more then you should until you really learn a monster to a ridiculous level. and its gonna hurt far more meaning getting hit have fun healing... then on top of that the damage isnt even worth it its high risk low reward spread is a trainwreck.
and yeah pierce rocks because its damage is good but the rate you get your alt meters back (for both heavy and light) is a massive DPS gain. with LBG and HBG its like a valor gauge and pierce ammo is more so your meter to charge it back.
i heard something about them changing meter gain this in the patch but didnt time it yet. but i did test shias gun and its underwhelming even with rath boosting it.
The old way of doing things was much better. Switching between different ammo types as the situation demanded because everything was limited. Finding the best moments to use Rapid Fire or Siege Mode. Now everything is just shoot Infinite Ammo A until gauge is full, empty it, then go back to infinite bullet-spam. And it doesn't even do as much damage as it used to so everything takes longer.
Removing pretty much all QoL things from Bowguns (reload increase that actually means something, recoil reduction, all the attachments.) sure was an inspired choice, I'll give them that.
