Zoh Shia - The Gatekeeper
Looks like a lot of folks are running into some issues with the updated Zoh Shia fight. Admittedly I've been carted by it a few times, but I managed to get my set and feel happy for it. Coming here to the discussion boards however has left me feeling disappointed in a lot of hunters acting awful towards one another.

The fight is difficult for some folks, and that's perfectly fine. Its not impossible by any measure, but definitely a challenge for those who've had a pleasant time spamming to win and not needing to worry about mechanics all that much up to this point.

What isn't fine is mocking them, ridiculing them, and acting like a bunch of snobby gatekeepers. Its appropriate for Zoh Shia to cart hunters learning, its not appropriate for Hunters to kick others while they're down. You can do better, be better than that.

I for one am beyond stoked that MH is finally getting the recognition it deserves with the massive success of World and Wilds. But this behavior will push people away.

We don't need to baby or coddle folks having a hard time and venting their frustration. Provide guidance, provide tips and tricks, etc. Help them understand how to be better hunters, don't drive them away. That serves absolutely nobody.

I hope as we get more updates, and harder challenges, we can all progress together in more meaningful and compassionate ways. From folks like me who maybe get a few hours a week to play, to those who eat sleep and dream games 36 out of 24 hours a day, we all can be better than this.

I believe in you. You got this. Don't give up. Always aspire to be better.

only problem ive been having is getting it to show up again after the new mission, 10k gp in and not one spawn, try to hit up sos flares and says all full even when it shows 1 person
I didn't find the fight hard in any shape or form, however it is boring as he has inflated HP.

We talking about 50k HP per player, for comparison Zorah Magdaros in World had up to 36k HP max with 4 players.

Then we have all this cheaters in the community claiming to clean 50k of HP in 10 min. while harassing legit players.

HP sponge + vomiting AoEs = difficulty

The Souls crowd ruined gaming.

No, I will mock them, because of the tone with which they voice their complaints.

"Waah the fight is too hard, it's got too much health, it takes too long, its phase change is too hard", very obviously the complaints of people who are either not familiar with Monster Hunter as a franchise (IE Tourists, the position I occupied for MHWorld to be clear), or who are just plain bad at the game and refuse to accept this fact and adapt.

In terms of real difficulty (how demanding it is for build prep, DPS and positioning), Zoh is a couple steps above Xeno, and about a mile below Iceborn Alatreon or Fatalis. It's a very forgiving fight, that has on-screen tutorials in it plus an easy-mode version that teaches you the basic mechanics first.

Anyone familiar with MonHun knows fights can last 15+ minutes, this shouldn't be shocking but clearly is because they've no experience with Monster Hunter. Zoh's health isn't even that big of a deal if you read the pop-up tips (see: functioning eyes) and use the plentiful slinger ammo.

They always, always come out swinging, crying that the game is bad, or the fight is bad, or some other BS to shift the blame for their failures off themselves. Hey guess what? I carted to a Rathalos today but I'm not crying that the monster is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. That's the problem here, and why they get and deserve mockery.
Laughing my ass off here the same schmucks who went WILDS IS TOO EASY are now crying that Zoh is BS. Dude lol. Lmao even.

i feel like hes not as hard as he could be but he can go into "I will kill" mode and you're just spamming superman dives avoiding 5 extra large fire balls + lightning at the end, miss once and you cart if people arent using powders, as the followup attack or lightning will get you even if you wait on the ground, as youll usually get back up automatically into the lightning gate.

Basically, the difficulty of the fight is easier if people are actually using dust of life when zoh is overwhelming a specific player.

how the ♥♥♥♥ does anyone find zoh hard

his attacks are extremely slow and telegraphed
his damage is sub master rank
he has no checks
his gimmicks are easy to respond to

like??? do some of yall get stuck on zelda bosses??

This seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding of difficulty.
Something can be easy. Something can be difficult. However, both can be BS.

I don't think anyone would say Bed of Chaos is "difficult". It's literally 3 R1's. However, the fight is BS because it's a gimmick-ridden mockery of a boss. Likewise, having a boss that has boatloads of HP and just vomits AoE attacks nonstop is also, at least IMO, BS. Is Zoh difficult? Not really, but it's a slog of a fight.

bro it takes like ten minutes
Had some weirdness when we got together as a group to fight it. Full team cart because he popped his one move a little to fast for us to actively counter (None of us could get behind him in time to avoid it and were to close to get out of range.) The second fight we were having some issue where destroyed crystals for his big arena wipe attack not matching up and only one of us survived the attack despite us all staying in the same spot. Two of us had our HP deleted, the other person completely fine. We were having all sorts of desync issues so it's possible that was probably the case.

Just your average gaming community.

Everyone is desperately trying to perform "skill signaling", to scrounge some bits of validation and feel better about themselves.

It's not BS, nor is it a slog. Welcome to Monster Hunter. You want real AoE BS? White Fatalis in MH2P. Even then, there's ways to git gud.

Sure, that may be so. However, that's 10 minutes of un-fun content.
Imagine punching yourself in the nuts for 10 minutes. That's about how fun it is.

To be fair, I can average 3 minute hunts on most monsters on Gunlance.
I'm not asking for every monster to be that. I'm not asking for every monster to be 20 minute hunts either. I'm simply asking for interesting mechanics and unique interactions.

Zoh Shia is neither of these. It's just a lot of HP, I'm told 50k per person, and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ just ♥♥♥♥♥ out AoEs in the later phases. Is this hard? No, I just hold block. However, it's not interactive nor is it interesting nor is it difficult. It's just padding.

Personally, I started with World so feel free to call me a tourist. However, Odogaron is my favorite monster because it's two apex predator creatures facing off with a lot of stylish action. Do with that information what you wish.

>Odogaron is an apex
You really are a tourist lol. It's not the apex in any zone it shows up in, nor in any of its variants.

Also

Zoh doesn't do anything that monsters in World don't. If you're really having that much trouble, try a different weapon or bring exhaust damage so it's not enraged as much. This is a cut and dry skill issue.
