The question is, WHICH mods are doing it?
I was getting stuck on the loading screen after TU1 and after a looot of digging, found the mod that replaces Nata was the culprit.
But I still hard crash every time I look at a mizu weapon - which is weird as I have zero mods that change weapons, stats, the weapon tree, previews etc.
Obviously some mod is causing the crash, but its not obvious which one. The entire game works fine - even the mizu fight, just not the viewing of the weapon.
I'll update here if I find out what it is, and I hope someone else does too.
"just dont use mods lol" isnt really a good answer
if youre having this issue, start by identifying any mod that changes stats or weapon models first and removing them. Then anything that may be linked to those weapons. For me, im at a loss as I have no such mods, except like, SFX change mods
The mod was essentially changing the whole skill sheet, a skill sheet that doesnt contain the new weapon-specific skills of the new monsters. Once you hover over the weapon the game doesnt know what to do with that skill because the mod essentially uploads a whole skill sheet that over-writes the new one.
There was a topic about it on Apr 4, 2025 on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/MHWilds/comments/1jre2o2/hovering_on_zo_shia_or_mizutsune_weapons_crashes/
Top comment solution is what I followed and it worked perfect.
How could this happen.
But seriously 'disable all mods' should be step one in trying to track down a crash. In any game.
They deserve the issues for not reading the mods instructions correctly.
|Yep this fixed it for me too. Anyone who wants a easy way to remove this mod (Becaus Fluffy Doesn't do it properly)
use this tool

Right after I added my root game directory, it found all the outdated loose file mods and selected the option to remove them. Once it did, and I restarted the game (as it was already running), I was able to view new gear items without issues.
