They couldn't beat Mizutsune's theme from Rise

Personal take here, but Mizu's theme in Rise was just fantastic and I was of course glad that he would come back to Wilds. However I had my doubts with the approach of his theme due to the nature of the composition in Rise being a more oriental focused setting.

So I hunted Mizu in Wilds and the theme is good, but couldn't beat Rise's version.

I wonder if this is the norm from now on with returning monsters, so far Wilds's OST hasn't been my favorite of the series, it only has two bangers in my opinion, (Rey Dau and Iceshard Cliffs's battle themes) the rest of the themes are ranged from good to alright.

I personally really really like the entire ost in wilds, the ways in which it works to embodies the area's in a more naturalistic manner is something I love to death!

It just really depends on what you want for a monster hunter ost, honestly, and rise, while good, was just too anime for my tastes tbh
