Savegame Backups
Considering the issues Windows Home users are having, consider using a publicly available script which makes automatically a backup copy of your game when you start the game. You can and should use that in the future if you do not want to manually backup.

If you prefer to do it manually, you can find your savegame in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\YOURPERSONALSTEAMID\2246340

More steps which can help savegame loss are

1. Disable Steam Cloud for the game

2. save before quitting, quit without saving

3. Disable Synchronized Photo Save

Don't think that if you aren't using Windows Home you are safe. Plenty of people have reported this on Windows Pro and even on console.
I know this is a stupid question but in terms of manually saving the files from what you listed above, do you literally just copy the files onto a hard drive or into another folder just for safe keeping? I don't usually do this kind of stuff but I really care about saving back ups this time around.

General practice is to have backups on a different drive.

If your drive just ends up dying your backups are worthless if they're on there.

But just in terms of corruption you can keep the backups on the same of course.

The script I am using is putting them on a different drive. But not having a different drive is no big deal either. I recommend using a free filehosting service like Dropbox, MEGA or Google Drive - there I upload my stuff and delete every week all backups except the last 5 and what I use for troubleshooting and screenshots.

it is simple, free and easy to understand - a good alternative to doing it manually. As I have mentioned above, I selected a different drive to keep the backups. It is basically a one time setup then forget about it. But it is there when you need it. :MHRISE_OK:
