Save Data Lost
After the first content drop my 96hrs of game play disappeared and the game is making me start fresh. Does anyone know how to recover save data?

Where is the save located, locally? I should back up mine too. Thanks for the reminder.

(I still have all my MH saves from the PSP days still. HA!)
Wherever your "\Steam\userdata\67744174\2246340" folder is.

Under normal circumstances, you should be able to find it in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\67744174\2246340"

Just copy the entire "2246340" folder and save it somewhere else.

96 hours and you didn't make a manual backup just in case?
Obviously not, hence the post.
No backup, no chance.

yea but that's what i mean, whenever you put so many hours into a game then you should be making manual backups every now and then

i have all the saves i care about on google drive
IF you did not make a new char in 1st save slot you can try to restore from steam cloud. If you allready overwrite it, it is lost, bc steam will also overwrite it in the cloud.
you dont. dont play with mods next time.
Just copy your backup over.

Yeah I will definitely be doing this moving forward. At least my PS5 character is HR50 something so I can still do the new content. But man does it suck losing my main account

Could always try to reach out to MHWilds support directly. Take this link and go into the form, select "Non-network related issues or technical difficulties", remain courteous and fill out the form to the best of your ability and there's a good chance they will be able to help you:
