Tips on Rathian Arena quest?

Maybe i am beeing just bad at the game... but usually MH is a VERY easy game for me, beat Fatalis solo and Alatreon Solo multiple times and everything. I do not understand why this is so impossible to get under 5:30... like even in almost flawless runs, Rathian just has a trashy outdated moveset and i cannot seem to make it under 5:30 no matter what i try.

If anyone has beaten it legit, pls share some tips, thanks

My first actual clear I think I got like 4:40 or something with Switch Axe. Before that I was hitting Retry Quest when I took too much damage or got knocked around too much.

Clearing Fatalis solo is different because you can go in fully kitted with your endgame build, items fully stacked and buffed up.

Arena has always been a different beast and is more or less a true gauge on your fundamentals of the game and your ability to play certain weapons as optimal as possible.

Long story short, the Arena is currently, and always has been, a pretty good measure of your true skill in a hunt. You don't have your typical build to rely on and have to work off what you're given and purely off weapon knowledge and monster pattern recognition.

Also monster attack RNG. You'll obviously get faster clear times if you get lucky and it dishes out a bunch of moves that don't waste your time.

You're fighting Rathain. It seems you're just waiting for her to attack so you can react to her. Rathian only have a few attacks that can knock the player down. Just keep your eyes on her feet. You can predict which move she's do base on the movement of her feet.

Yeah, I thought I was doing great against her, too; Arena is a real "feels bad" overall. I guess you're meant to just focus her head exclusively, maybe even passing on tail hits after flips just for one or two extra hits on her head, and manipulating her AI as much as possible to minimize her triple charge. Unfortunately, as a group player, myself, this likely means not bringing Olivia, as she might cause a triple charge to happen.
No idea what to do against Doshaguma.

No idea what to do against Doshaguma.

Head is definitely the best place to aim for. And if you're using a weapon that has an offset, the triple charge is EZ offset bait.

Get a buddy. Split aggro makes up for the higher HP. Make sure you both use different weapons, too.

Best i have gotten is 5:52 with gunlance so far but here are a few tips i have.

-start with sneak attack and prepare to counter the roar
-when you mount get on the head, if rathian runs to the pillar it will do 550 damage (sometimes you can get rathian to do it twice)
-If you are sleep bombing use a single bomb so you can capitalize on two sleep bombing.

It's a bit rng on what rathian does seems like. Sometimes rathian just eats the clock

arena quests are historically balanced for 2 people. I doubt this is the first game that changes that for solo hunters

It actually does adjust for solo.

Let me specify, I got 5:52 WITH the support hunter and when i tried WITHOUT the support hunter i noticed the damage when you run into the pillar changed from 550 to like 360. I am clearing it faster than when i was using the support hunter just not 5:30 fast to secure the A rank. There are a few videos of people on youtube doing it with SnS, GL and hammer and clearing it at 5:05

Arena has always been bad in these games, Most of the weapons will get very bad gear to go with them and theres usually 1 or 2 that get actually decent skills, You really just have to look through the gear, Imo for rathian switch axe is literally a cake walk and I barely ever use that weapon

Don't use SnS unless you play like a speedrunner.

i dunno, rathian arena its really a bs fight because she doesnt stop moving/flying

just pick up the cb. Its a dragon cb so good dmg, Even on casual hunt i was able to clear it in 4:30 it barely takes that amount of time with cb even if you play it safe
