Performance worsened after title update 1
I am getting 0.5-1 second long stutters every 5 seconds or so, first time I had to dial graphics back to get stable performance. I thought they were supposed to be making optimizations, lmao

Edit. Deleting shader.cache and letting the game recompile the shaders fixed this issue for me.

That's where you thought wrong lol.

Maybe next patch it'll run like it did pre-TU 1.

Same for me and a lot of other, Linux guys can't even seem to launch the game.
5800x3d 4070 super, before it wasn't great but with framegen it was okay.
But now my 1% lows are going <20fps without even leaving the camp. Before TU1 worse fps i got in base was around 95-98 fps with frame gen. Now the highest I get is 88fps.
I don't even wanna bother going for quests

Did you get flagged for a shader recompilation after updating? If not, you should delete your shader.cache in the directory of Wilds and see if that helps. There's new things so it needs to compile that stuff, and I don't think the game does a good job doing it on the fly.

the game didn't compile shaders after the update automatically, like it should. Delete the shader cache from the games folder and relaunch it to force them to compile. This fixed the stuttering after the update for me
delete shader cache from local game files, start game again so it compiles shaders. idk why it doesnt compile them after this update. i guess they forgot?

Can you tell me where and what exactly the file is?

See here step 8
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3454351115
it is pre-cached shader file which makes the game load faster

Thanks!
Edit: Game is running smooth again. This worked nicely.

^ THIS.
Do NOT follow that bad "update routine" guide. It has bad advice.

For some reason the game didn't recompile shaders and it's pretty obvious with the intense stutters/micro-freezes that the problem is the shaders (if you're at all familiar with shaders or game dev).

Just delete your shader cache file in your game's installation directory and the game will work fine again, like before, after it recompiles.

this appears to have been the solution. Thank you!

Must be rough, I am on a 30TOTi and 5700x and this is what the game decided to look like after the update. My FPS is abysmal on top of it.

Same, all my armor and random NPCs look like early 1990s polygons. I nuked the entire game folder and reinstalled, same issue.
This PC Apr 4 @ 7:27am
delete shader.cache2 from monhun folder and relaunch game
